Caroline Kennedy Will Be Senator, Officials Tell AP @ 2:12 pm by Walter Alarkon
Caroline Kennedy will be named the successor in the Senate to Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), according to unnamed officials who spoke to the Associated Press.
The AP also spoke to two people close to Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) who said that he is still looking for his choice but that they believe Kennedy will be the pick.
Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, has been lobbying for the seat since last month. Paterson's choice will serve until 2010, when voters will choose someone to fill the remainder of Clinton's term. It's up for election again in 2012, which is the final year of her term.
Clinton has been nominated to become secretary of State in the Obama administration.

Once Uncle Ted checks out (anticipating the prayer threads here with more posts removed by the admins than the tolerated pious hypocrisies, of the prayers going up and convalescence to the family type), who is it going to be? The Media doesn’t even show her interview where she said “you know” 150 times + If that had been Sarah saying you know a bunch of times it would be run and re-run every second. Although I too am troubled by this trend that is probably closer to nepotism than it is Royalty EXCEPT IN THIS CASE.
Jeb Bush, George W Bush, Andrew Cuomo and many others at least were ELECTED because of the perceived cache of their surnames. Not desirable in a well-functioning democracy, but understandable and long standing in the US (see John Q Adams).
In this case, the analogy that is most appropriate is Royalty and not nepotism. If the Governor would have taken Cuomo instead, at least you could argue that he's qualified (political positions not withstanding)to fill the seat. Not only do we not really know Caroline's political positions, because she never had to take a stance in a legislative body, but she hasn't found the motivation to even vote in elections over 50% of the time since 1980.
I'm afraid to say that I'm alive to see the unraveling of my country.
I hope you're right, but the voters of NY DID vote Hillary into office... twice.

Well, its like, you know, that maybe now, you know, the people of the great state of New York will wake up and, you know, see this for what it is and finally be, you know, sick of the dems and, you know, next time around vote for, you know, a Republican instead.
