Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says both her 18-year-old daughter Bristol, who gave birth to son Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Saturday, and fiance Levi Johnston are working hard to balance schoolwork with their new parental obligations, People Magazine reported.
"You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time," the Alaska governor told the magazine in a phone message. "They are certainly not high school dropouts."
Any suggestion to the contrary "harms Bristol's reputation and Levi's reputation and their chances for good work opportunities," Pail said.

These two probably got a six figure payout from People for the right to plaster their pictures all over the cover. These are not average teenagers. They are two kids who screwed up but were fortunate enough to have a famous enough relative that was willing to throw money at them.
And how was it looked on back in the 1950s when you were in high school?
Pray for the kid. He's going to need it more.
Especially nowadays when they’re being ‘educated’ about things in school, on tv, in newspapers and magazines, etc. There’s no excuse for not using anything.
So speak for yourself. YOU may have better things to do with your time, but I believe its essential to fight back.
If nothing else it'll convert them to flat-tax fanatics.
Thanks ~ I was afraid my rash generalization might come back to bite me in the...well, you know!
Let me rephrase ~
I admire anyone who works their butt off ~ especially those trying to better their lives, and ESPECIALLY young parents who love their children.
My son got his girlfriend pregnant in college. They got married and two years later, they were divorced. She raised the child pretty much by herself. Now both are married to others and have grown up and become good parents. Sometimes it’s best that kids do NOT marry so quickly, if they have supportive families.
Yes, sometimes it is.
Exactly. Christian kids act like the world these days, at least a lot of them do. No matter how they are taught, they will do their own thing if it suits them. If only they realized the harm they do to their souls when they disobey God’s rules, especially regarding sex. The world says, if it feels good, do it. But God knows differently and He knows it harms us to do our own thing with no regard for His principles.
Countering their lies with truth and information IS essential... what I pointed out in my post is that the lack of Conservative comments, comparable to those gossipy smears you quoted, is due to our side retaining class. I was merely drawing a line between fighting back with truth on the one side and spamming boards with infantile gutter trash like they do.
Understood.
My son and his family live in Anchorage and they’ve been getting this stipend from the government for a very long time. It wasn’t just since Sarah came on board. It could have been from the time they drilled for oil on the North Slope.
Using this thread as a smackdown is counter-productive, don’t you think?
It’ reminds me of the parable of the Good Samaritan and the “Tsk-Tsk”ing of the so-called righteous ones.
I really do think we are doomed as a conservative movement. We don’t support goodness, we eat our own.
OK, but if this were Chelsea and beau, I don’t think the FR board would be as conciliatory.
You’re assuming and presuming way too much. I don’t support stigmatizing the child born out of wedlock; he has no reponsibility. The parents are the ones who by their own volition perpetuate bastardy, and I think it just that society should deplore and not celebrate their behavior. As a Christian I believe in redemption and rehabilitation in society, but it must be sought and achieved through right acts and living. Not awarded automatically and immediately. Get a job, work hard, recognize one’s wrong actions, teach the kid better. “Yeah, they did wrong but they’ve straightened up. Good folks.” will be my reaction several years down the line if they do the right thing. Where you go on about killing Mary and comparing me to Muslims and saying I’d consign children born out of wedlock to lives of shame, you’re attacking a straw man.
I’m not trying to smack down anyone. I’m just being realistic. I have a lot of compassion for kids who get themelves into this kind of situation, but it’s not necessary any more to get pregnant at an early age. There are preventions if you’re going to get stupid and have sex before marriage.
I’m talking here about God’s principles and what happens when we break them. It’s not my set of laws, it’s His. He loves us no matter how much we sin, but that doesn’t mean what we do is right in His eyes. Thank God for forgiveness.
b9, sin is sin. Christians need to be careful of how they behave in front of the world. The same doesn’t go for the secular world. God allows them to do their own thing, but for Christians this behaviour is dangerous to our souls. It’s not eating our own. It’s being aware that our behaviour is watched continually by others and we should be glorifying God with our lives. I pray this child will be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and will not repeat his parents’ sin. This happens over and over again in families. It sure has in mine.
I'm sorry for you, and for your perpetual disappointment in your family, which you project onto these threads.
