Yes, an about-face has been predicted. About a month after O is sworn in the headlines will be “Economy Picking Up”.

Maybe they are understating the problem?

I lost $2000 on a custom couch from NC from a furniture co. that went chapter 7 . NC furniture industry is in collapse.

Auto industry collapsing

Housing is still in free fall

Real unemployment rate probably over 10%

US debt doubled

Towns and states going bankrupt

Countries going broke Iceland, England, riots in Greece

etc., etc, etc.

Bush economy is Yesterday’s election news. I would be more concerned about what they are not telling us....

Where is the good news? IMHO we are just getting started.

Guns, groceries, gold

anything remotely like that from the financial press?

--or how about the fact that since this 'recession' began, our gdp has expanded by $100 bil. --a half trillion in current dollars.  It goes on and on; unemployment is lower now than it was when Clinton was bragging about his jobs economy.  Zero, zip, nada in the press.

I fully agree that the press has made matters worse, but politicians (including Obama)have contributed to the problem by mischaracterizing the financial climate solely for political gain.

Indeed, the media whores and the political whores combined to make a bad situation worse. Now, the a**holes have to live with it.

Just shilling for Obama. As soon as he’s been sworn in (lying under oath) they’ll turn on a dime and start saying how much better everything is getting!

They already have. I heard one reporter yesterday say that Obama had done more for ME peace already than Bush did in his eight years of being President.

A lot of members of the media, as well as a lot of members of congress, should be indicted for treason; tried, and if found guilty, have all their wealth confiscated, and depending on the level of treason commited, be jailed or be sentenced to hang from the neck, in a public hanging.

Real unemployment rate probably over 10%

You must be some kind of Bush-bot Pollyanna delusionist.  Everyone knows that 'real' unemployment is way over 200%.

I blame them and the banks. Them for sensationalism leading to panic and the banks for not explaining how "credit" works.

My Bank of America credit card says I have a $20,000 limit. Well, they didn't GIVE me any cash, they just said out of thin air that I have that amount of credit. But aren't banks supposed to lend $money$? Where's the money? They use that $20,000 as a line in their list of "assets." Where's the ca$h money? Are they hiding it? Where'd it go? They use 90% of that asset to "create" more credit. But the vault is still empty. Where's the ca$h? Who gets the actual greenbacks? Who's hiding the dollars and cents?

Well, since BoA didn't GIVE me $20,000 to spend or invest, they only gave me "thin air" they call "credit," so I'm giving them "in kind" in repayment. Follow this link to third post down and follow directions there.

I sent BoA more than my minimum payment for over six years. They just got a huge bail out. They should use that money to pay off the credit/unsecured debt of their credit card holders. But they won't. They'll give large bonuses and other "perks" to the same people who created the credit and mortgage mess we're in. Well, I'm rebelling. I'm not paying back any more credit cards from any Banks. What I'm doing is legal, moral and very patriotic. See link above.

LOL... Sheep... Now after Jan 20th things will slowly begin to get better. The bar has never been lower for an Incoming Administration. The media already has a spot picked out on Mount Rushmore for him.

At our annual New Year’s Party with couples we have known for decades, one of the moderate liberals brought up the new great depression.

She got my favorite question, “Who do you know, who has lost their job or is making significantly less money or is losing their home due to factors beyond their own actions or failure of actions.”

After a couple of rambling minutes, she and the other moderate liberal couple admitted that they knew no one who fit into that category. The people losing their homes got themselves into the mess by 2nds and home equity mortgages.

One couple known by everyone, had invested big time with Madoff and had leveraged their home based on their expectations on Madoff. Now they have no income and will probably lose their MacMansion.

One of our major shopping centers had traffic jams for the entire week before Christmas. Cops were on hand, giving out tickets for blocking the interesection.

One of the ladies in semi retirement works a couple of days per week for a decades old Kitchen Appliance and goodies store with products ranging from medium price to high $ value. She said their sales were the best in decades if not for ever. They have hundreds of back orders where the customers paid 25-50% as a deposit for the future orders.

Our Walmart and two Targets were busy everytime we went in from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.

Some stores are closing and most will not be missed. A very crummy Mervyn’s is closing and several excellent national and regional replacements want that building. Many of us want to see a Kohl’s move in.

There are what appears to be increasing numbers of poor, many are apparently illegals not able to find work due to ICE crackdowns on employers. The food bank has run out of food twice due to the ICE crackdowns. The Salvation Army had so many volunteers for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, they were turning down volunteers. As usual they can use more money. A friend who is very involved with the Salvation Army and local charities, said that ICE crackdowns and illegals not going home for the winter is impacting all of the food and temp lodging charities. Also, our lack of Gorebull warming (really cold and wet weather) has driven the hard core homeless from the bridges, empty house, and buildings into the agencies for food and shelter.

Of course the Mediots only focuse on the failure of America to keep the illegals and perpetual homeless housed and fed.

Then why did 52% (minus the ACORN manufactured votes and other miscellaneous voter fraud, say 49%) vote a communist into the WH?

Can you list some examples of CNBC vs. Fox Business News that is encouraging? I don't watch either.

That is because many liberals now want to think that the economy is much better since Obama will be President. Even if the economy is bad they want to say it is doing great.
