WASHINGTON -- As U.S. Senate leadership developed an elaborate set of contingency plans today to keep Roland Burris from taking over President-elect Barack Obama's seat, the disputed appointee promised not to "create a scene" when the Senate convenes next week.

That’s why the senate will eventually seat Burris. If they don’t they may force a special election in Illinois and lose a set to a republican. (Who will still be a crook)
I sent an email to my senator...a Republican...to seat Burris. The overall problem I see here...is that neither Fitz or the Illinois folks are moving in on Blago....and Blago has yet to be proven guilty of anything in a court of law. Our entire American theme of justice....is innocent until proven guilty. So Blago was free to pick anyone he wanted, and I think he has to be seated.
Reid and Obama are wrong in this case...innocent until proven guilty. Both seem to have missed this class in law school.
Shows one child under 18 and one child over 18 in the marriage, strongly suggesting Barry was adopted by Lolo.
It’s fun watching these Democrats slice and dice each other.
They won’t seat Burris ,but they will seat Al Franken, who is in the process of stealing an election right before our eyes. There is no slight of hand in the Franken theft, it’s being done right out in the open.

What is the deal with that legislator, I think his name is Rush of all things. The one that delivered the threats concerning Blago’s announcement about Burris. Is there something wrong with that guy or was he drunk/stoned or what?
Next week is going to be an interesting one to watch. Has anything like this ever happened before?
A trial will take time. Reid, 0Bomba and the Dem powers that be are in a bit of a hard spot it seems.
As crooked as Blago might be, he is, for the moment , not guilty of anything.
What to do?
On television, a talking head stated, " There are potentially millions ( or is it billions ) of stimulus money at stake here and Illinois will need two senators to fight for their share".
That's the gist of what the talking head said.
Don't forget:
- A Louisiana Congressman caught red-handed with bribe money in the freezer
- An Impeached ex-President who committed perjury; running around the world and the country collecting bribe money for the last 8 years
- A NY Governor screwing call girls
- And Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, holding hearings and demanding witnesses tell them why there was a collapse in the mortgage industry
You all don’t understand. Anyone who denies Burris his Senate spot is a racist who is lynching a black man. It was stated as such yesterday. This is not about ethics or legality, it is about white racism. /sarcasm.
I really have no words. Race hustling at its finest.
Rep. Bobby Rush, an Illinois Democrat who was invited to speak at Blagojevich's news conference, urged Senate leaders not to block Burris. He told reporters that Senate Democrats should not "hang and lynch the appointee as you try to castigate the appointer."
Blago just decided he needed a big Race Card - and Rush paid the tab.
Bobby Rush is another crooked pol who should have been in prison years ago.
As much as I hate it, I have to agree with you. However I think this whole thing is a setup anyway. Surely Reid knows he has no authority to prevent Burris from being seated. It all makes good show, when in reality it gives the Democrats a “yes sir” seat with a built in “dare anyone to oppose it” insurance policy. There is zero chance Burris is going to ever be a descenting voice or cause a problem of any kind. This is as good as it gets for them really.
I don’t know why the Senate wotn seat hime. He’s just another Dem. hack from Chicago. If not him, they will just get another one from the now Lt Governor.
I see this as a lose-lose for Demonratz. If he stays he’s “tainted”. If they get rid of him and a white guy ends up in the seat the CBC will have a fit. Even if they can’t get rid of him they’re seen as trying to “hold a brotha down!”
If Blago leaves the state he’s not allowed back in. You guys keep him.
