Obama has no military experience, no executive experience. He has a history of voting "present" when faced with a tough decision.
I'm no soothsayer, so I don't know what Obama would do -- but there are certainly grounds to think that Obama might abandon Israel if there is a major war in that area. To him, it might seem like a politically safe course of action (I say that because I think Obama is a coward and also not very bright).

Misleading e-mail: From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Actual quote from “The Audacity of Hope” [pg. 261]: Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Personally, If I was jewish I might be concerned about Obama’s presidency not because of some concocted muslim association he had as a child, which is simply too silly to contemplate, but because he’s black. I get the impression that blacks and jews are not the greatest of friends. However Obama is a Christian now, in his grown-up years, and has stated that he supports Israel. I haven’t seen any evidence that contradicts his statement. Politically, practically, and morally, that is and should be his policy.
