Obama, Bush & the Gaza blitz
Tribune-Review (Suburban Pittsburgh, PA) ^ | 31 December 2008 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 12/31/2008 8:47:44 AM PST by Vigilanteman

Unwilling to control its fighters, who fired scores of missiles into Israel at the end of their six-month cease-fire, Hamas gave Israel the provocation it needed to deliver a savage blow to the Palestinian enclave in Gaza.

Saturday was the bloodiest day in the history of the Palestinian people since being driven from their homes in the War of 1948. One thousand were killed or wounded as the Israeli Air Force conducted more than a hundred strikes.

About Israel's right to defend its border towns, there is no dispute. When Hamas permits Gaza to be used as a launchpad for rockets, it must expect retaliation. Nor can Hamas claim some right to dictate the limits of that retaliation.

Yet the wisdom of so savage a retribution for rockets that killed not one Israeli is open to question. Crass Israeli politics seems to be behind this premeditated and planned blitz.

Pat starts out with what I consider a reasonable, thoughtful and well-balanced piece, but ends up reverting to his sorry old format of blaming the Jooze more than the terrorists.

Did Cynthia McKinney co-write this with Pat Buchanan?

Pat is wrong. Anyone trying to kill me should expect to wiped out. Hamas wants to destroy Israel, and the only remedy is the reverse, to destroy Hamas totally.

Felon breaks into your house some night. You shoot and kill him. I suppose there will always be someone who questions whether your response was justified. Best to ignore these types.

Pat, as hard as he tries, simply cannot hide his anti-Israel tendencies.

Some in the past have called him an anti-Semite but since many of the peoples living in that area of the world are Semite (not just the Jews), he doesn't quite qualify as an anti-Semite but he does qualify as an anti-Israel.

Pat's sort of a religious guy but one wonders if he has ever read in depth, the Old Testament.

Pat is such an idiot. Hamas is launching the rocketry equivalent of a Saturday Night Special. If someone shoots at you with a clapped out, snub nosed 22 and misses, it doesn't mean they don't intend to kill you. They would use a Glock if they could get one.

Hamas' intent is to kill all Israelis. A proportional response is to kill all of Hamas. God bless Isreal and may they destroy all their enemies.

Wouldn’t they make a team? Pat, at least, is educated and can string together a thoughtful paragraph. But both are raving moonbats when it comes to Israel and Jooze.

"Yet the wisdom of so savage a retribution for rockets that killed not one Israeli is open to question."

I don't consider Patrick Buchanan to be someone capable of having either credibility or objectivity on this issue any longer.

As an antisemitic slug, he is 1000 times worse than Charles Lindbergh ever was. At least Lindy saw the error of his ways after the U.S. entered WWII and became a useful member of society again. Buchanan is useless, period.

Good analogy. For some reason, they’re assuming that because Hamas rockets are only killing small numbers of people that that’s the intent. IT’S NOT! If they had laser guided munitions, they’d be using them with precision to kill as many Israelis as possible. The whole philosophy of “proportional response” just assures that more of your own people will die. The whole point to armed warfare is to make your enemy suffer MORE than you do so they’ll quit the fight. Not make your enemy suffer just as much as you ...

Buchanan says “scores” of missiles, but there was thousands.
Buchanan describes the alleged ‘cease-fire’ without quotes.
Clearly on the side of the terrorists.

"Did Cynthia McKinney co write this with Pat Buchanan?"

She is incapable of writing anything which sounds this intelligent and well thought out. This is why Pat Buchanan is the one who is more dangerous.

A bigot who can complete a sentence without using foul language and profanity is still a bigot.

being driven from their homes in the War of 1948

There's nothing reasonable about an article that starts with a false premise. Almost no one was driven from his home during the course of the war in '48, by the Jews at least. They left voluntarily. The ones that didn't are still there.

I love it. Using this logic if a burglar breaks into my home and threatens to rape my wife, I can only threaten to rape him back in retaliation.

Good job, Pat :-@

Are you kiddin' me? He couldn't write two sentences before blurting this one out:

Saturday was the bloodiest day in the history of the Palestinian people since being driven from their homes in the War of 1948.

Driven from their homes in 1948? IIRC, they left their homes so their Arab bretheren could wipe Israel out and they could then return, Jew-free. Things didn't go as planned, oddly the Israelis refused to die.

If you read more carefully, you'll see that it didn't start out well either. Pat hates Jews. There's no such thing as Palestinians, just poor Arabs being used by rich, cowardly Arabs to kill Jews.

Excuse me..

Left on their own accord with the promise of returning after the Arabs drove the Jews into the sea .

Just didn't work out that way.

"since being driven from their homes in the War of 1948"

Most weren't driven from their homes. Most of them left. They were told by the Arab governments to get out of the way so they wouldn't get hurt while the Jews were slaughtered by the glorious Arab armies. They were told they could return after all the Jews were gone. But it didn't work out that way. The Israelis wiped the floor with the mutts.
