As we celebrate the New Year and a new beginning for our nation, let us pray and remember the over 4,200 men and women who perished in battle in Iraq and Afghanistan, the over 140,000 soldiers who cannot be with their families at this time, and pledge our commitment to our wounded warriors so that they may achieve recovery and lead fulfilling lives.

Bigger problems are BDS, and LSD.
Veterans, Warriors and Heroes, not Victims
Those that need help must receive it. No need to "victimize" the rest.
No one is saying to play them as “hapless victims” but that we should “pledge our commitment to our wounded warriors.”
This means giving them and their families the continuum and consistancy of care they deserve to make them well.
What happened at Walter Reed, and at VA facilities across the country was a result of NOT being committed to their treatment.
No. WRAMC was a total breakdown of leadership, Hell, the Commander, in testimony said when asked about the squalid conditions there: “I don’t do barracks inspections at Walter Reed.” (and was subsequently fired) and the brigade Sergeant Major was relieved as well. THEY are the ones who bear the brunt of the responsibility of failure.
Glad that you’re getting care (apparently good care) at the VA. Unfortunately, they are not and were not moving towards taking care of the thousands and thousands of soldiers coming back from I&A with much different needs than what our fathers and grandfathers needed.
That’s why Gates had to say We have no higher priority in the Department of Defense, apart from the war itself, than taking care of our men and women in uniform who have been wounded — who have both visible and unseen wounds. Ya think VA would have seen that sooner.
You should actually read what I wrote instead of just the titles.
Of course Veterans deserve only the finest in care, but at the same time, the system can be taken advantage of, even by non-Veterans and that robs precious facilities from those who need it most.
The last needed is to lump all Veterans into the pity pot. Doing that is just another way at spitting on us again.
Even better,
HEAR, HEAR!!
