Is your concealed carry firearm capable of dealing with a grizzly? I don't think my little S&W 640 with 5 rds of .357mag is going stop a grizzly. I own stuff big enough to do the job, but no ranger is going to believe I actually carry something that big as a daily CCW rig.
One of the last "Great White Hunters," (I can't wait for the responses to this) Karamojo Bell, used to take elephant with a .243. I'd rather have a .357 than harsh language in facing bear. A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, my platoon sergeant and me ran off a grizzly after my FTX patrol got him grumpy while we were performing a "Movement to Contact" deep in the Rainier Training area on Fort Lewis. We thought fast and used the CS grenades we were going to use in the field training exercise to give that bruin second thoughts. I felt kinda bad when he ran off mewling and rubbing his swollen snout. I tried to tell him not to rub because it makes the pain about a 1000% more acute but he didn't listen. The point is, taken old Bell and other factors into consideration, sometimes unlikely events actually happen and can turn defeat into victory if you think fast enough and can keep your cool. I'd like to have an available tool to do this, however.

Actually the point can be easily made to prove this: When I go out, I tailor my ccw to the potential and possibly foreseeable circumstances of the outing. Meaning, if I'm staying fairly close to home, I may carry my M642 in a pocket holster with a single 5 shot speed loader to spare. But if I'm venturing further out from home, say on a day trip to the Florida Keys, I'll carry a more serious rig, like my Sig P226 with an 18rd spare mag or possibly my Sig P245 with a couple of Sig P220 mags in reserve. If you're going to a prom, you dress for the occasion. Tux instead of a T-Shirt. I guarantee you this, on my next out of state auto trip (probably from Miami to Texas and back), I'm going to be packing 2 firearms on the trip: My H&K P30 9mm AND my new S&W M460V for SERIOUS & UNFORESEEN ISSUES
