MONROE, La. – A teen convicted in the "Jena Six" beating case shot himself in the chest and was taken to the hospital Monday, days after his arrest on a shoplifting charge, police said.
Mychal Bell's wound isn't life threatening, said Monroe Police Sgt. Cassandra Wooten. The 18-year-old used a .22-caliber firearm in the shooting around 7:40 p.m., she said.

Chances are he feels he is a martyr now and must not be held responsible for anything he does.
A .22 pistol? Reminds me of my niece who tried suicide by beating herself to death with a wiffle ball bat. It took hours.
I recall a recruit who tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrists with a razor. Drill Sargeant took him apart after he was released from the hospital.
DI: Where have you been?

He actually made it through basic and shaped up pretty well.
Bell was in the news again after he was arrested on Dec. 24 and booked on charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest and simple assault, police said.
Police said Bell tried to steal several shirts and a pair of jeans from a department store and fled when a security guard and off-duty police officer tried to detain him. After they found him hiding under a car, Bell "swung his arms wildly" and one of his elbows struck the security guard with a glancing blow, according to a police report.
I was just about to add, "Gee, I wonder where he got that idea," with a /sarc tag, but then I noticed your tagline... I hope it's intended as sarcasm. But, could you do me a favor and kindly explain it.
The reason is that I refuse to kowtow to Liberal guilt and if that means being a racist, so be it!!
He would probably have gotten away clean on the shoplifting charge if he hadn’t been wearing his pants down around his knees so his underwear would show.

Because of the racism that dominates American life, minority suicides are often refused the weapons suitable to the task at hand. Furthermore, they tend to be excluded from firing ranges where they could receive the proper training. Taking part in drive-by shootings on the streets of the 'hood is no substitute for safe aand comprehensive firearms instruction.
I suggest we take a leaf from the Public School book, and give this unfortunate disaffected youth full credit for suicide 101. To do otherwise might damage his self-esteem.

As anybody that's ever watched Tru TV can tell you, .22 caliber weapons are very deadly. Unlike larger, higher velocity projectiles, .22 bullets usually don't enter then simply exit the body. They tend to deflect off bones like ribs, deform into a more jagged shape, and tear through organs repeatedly.
