A group of Republican leaders including the vice-chair of the Republican National Committee say they will try in January to pass a resolution accusing President George Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing "socialist" policies. Pretty blunt.
(having some trouble accessing the website since it was put up on Drudge Report)

“Im guessing around 7% since most of the proposed cut to the Alaska state budget was capital spending. Capital spending is spending on infrastructure, buildings, other structures, etc.”
Sorry, rushed this. Should be at least 14% of the budget — capital spending must be at least 14% of the budget because most of the 7% proposed cut in total spending would come from the approx. 50% cut in capital spending.
“You are celebrating that Republicans are attacking President Bush?!”
I’m celebrating that Republicans are articulating Republican (conservative) principles. Other recent posts on Free Republic report that House/Senate leaders are preparing resistance to Obama as well.
I don’t believe in cults of personality — whether they revolve around Bush or Obama — that lead nations to economic disaster time and time again.
“At the risk of catching Hades on this thread, in general, capital spending is what government is SUPPOSED to be doing. What government is NOT supposed to be doing is all of this social spending which is driving us bankrupt.”
Have to agree with you. Well, it’s a start.
” Her name is NOT Palin. Memories are short here. It was only this month that she proposed a socialist health care plan “for children” in Alaska. The only Republican politician I know of who can be trusted to fight big government across the board is Ron Paul. “
Yeah, haven’t had a good chance to take a close look at that. If that’s the case, it’s disappointing. Also troubling was what she’s said about parents of the handicapped having a friend in the White House (which could mean more big daddy spending for a pet cause).
What is unknown about Palin is the extent to which, like Bush, whether she’d buckle on big spending for pet causes under pressure or be able to level an articulate, coherent defense of tough-love, free-market economic policy making, especially when it’s hard. Don’t know. Bush could not.
I’d add that North Carolina’s (?) Sanford also looks interesting.

Could you repost that link — it was a dead link.
Are you talking to me? cause that’s certainly not the position I staked out. Retract or prepare to defend yourself (verbally, of course).
“Why is it, every time someone talks about unity and division it is always the conservative voice that has to shut up and unite otherwise they are the ones being divisive? But when the spenders and out of touch elite do what is not in the best interest of the countrys well being they are never called to task for their divisiveness or the damage they do. I am tired of one sided and non factual arguments from the country clubbers and the democrat machine that push this garbage”
You and me both, brother. Enough of this “be a team player” crap. It was principled resistance to threats to freedom that made this country great.
Screw you, too. I’m tired of defending you turds.
That is what a guy is on Cavuto’s show saying right now, that Americans voted for Obama because America now wants socialism... we are so in trouble here.
A little late for this don’t you think? Why didn’t they say so in late Oct, 2008? Eh?
Agree totally. The "hate Bush" crowd here is as bad as DU.
people here cheering them on seem to enjoy watching the continued destruction of the Republican party
Most Freepers are VERY simple minded these days.
“Grunthor simply and concisely and correctly explained the differences and you brush him off with an attempt at sliming him.”
That’s ok SoCon. I am used to seeing these Republicans behave this way. They keep doing the same things, and losing. What else is there to do but blame others?
***You are celebrating that Republicans are attacking President Bush?!***
What’s wrong with attacking a liberal?

It’s about time.
Hopefully not a day late and a dollar short though...
Thanks for the ping. The Republican Party should have been on this WAAAYYYY before now. I’m looking forward to combating Obama’s socialist assault on the country, but we need real leadership from the Republicans. I can only hope this is the beginning of a trend to reverse the statism in the Party.
I guess we’ll see.

A day late and a dollar short.
The GOP has suddenly “re-discovered” fiscal conservatism....precisely when it’s out of power, and when there is little chance of it’s newfound fiscal conservatism actually being implemented. This is really no different from when the GOP was beating the drum for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution the last time it was out of power. Yes, it was a great idea. And was forgotten the moment the GOP came into power.
