A group of Republican leaders including the vice-chair of the Republican National Committee say they will try in January to pass a resolution accusing President George Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing "socialist" policies. Pretty blunt.

Sorry, rushed this. Should be at least 14% of the budget — capital spending must be at least 14% of the budget because most of the 7% proposed cut in total spending would come from the approx. 50% cut in capital spending.

I’m celebrating that Republicans are articulating Republican (conservative) principles. Other recent posts on Free Republic report that House/Senate leaders are preparing resistance to Obama as well.
I don’t believe in cults of personality — whether they revolve around Bush or Obama — that lead nations to economic disaster time and time again.

Yeah, haven’t had a good chance to take a close look at that. If that’s the case, it’s disappointing. Also troubling was what she’s said about parents of the handicapped having a friend in the White House (which could mean more big daddy spending for a pet cause).
What is unknown about Palin is the extent to which, like Bush, whether she’d buckle on big spending for pet causes under pressure or be able to level an articulate, coherent defense of tough-love, free-market economic policy making, especially when it’s hard. Don’t know. Bush could not.
I’d add that North Carolina’s (?) Sanford also looks interesting.

Thanks for the ping. The Republican Party should have been on this WAAAYYYY before now. I’m looking forward to combating Obama’s socialist assault on the country, but we need real leadership from the Republicans. I can only hope this is the beginning of a trend to reverse the statism in the Party.
I guess we’ll see.

A day late and a dollar short.
The GOP has suddenly “re-discovered” fiscal conservatism....precisely when it’s out of power, and when there is little chance of it’s newfound fiscal conservatism actually being implemented. This is really no different from when the GOP was beating the drum for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution the last time it was out of power. Yes, it was a great idea. And was forgotten the moment the GOP came into power.
