Another one! If I remember correctly a similar incident happened last year, when a drunk lady tried to cross to the next door balcony to surprise fellow cruises and fell to the ocean. She was never found.

As many drunks who show up and do cruise trips...I’m shocked we don’t see more people disappearing. I think this has always been a problem...even on the river steamboats of the 1800s.

Not funny, but...

Given the number of people on cruises/the number of drunks/idiots/klutzes the only surprise is that there aren’t more missing persons.

Why are we (FBI) looking to see if a crime was committed? If there is video showing a woman falling overboard, my first thought would be that she fell.

The video may show a woman falling into the sea - but doesn’t show if she was “launched” by someone else....

The Pearl is their newest ship and hundreds of rooms have small balconies. Surprised more children or drunk haven’t fallen overboard than just this one.

I was just on a similar (if not identical) ship, The Star, on the Pacific side of Mexico. Yeah, the boozers take over the upper decks, which have more pitch and sway to them than the lower decks. I'm surprised more loadies don't pitch over the side.

Scroll down this page and see all of the different rooms that have these balconies:

I've never heard of private balconies having security cams, but public areas of the ships often do. I'd guess one of the public area cameras got footage of her falling past the deck.

It's very difficult to fall off a cruise ship entirely by accident. None of these stories ever involve children/teens many of whom are allowed to roam unattended. If it were easy, we'd see kids falling too.

Most times, it seems the fallen person was drunk and climbing around on balconies.

There have been a handful of these stories in the last few years. The first I remember hearing about was in 2006, right before my dh and I went on our first cruise.

It happens.

Alcohol and ship railings don’t mix.

How can they monitor a drunk in their room:

* NCL encourages the responsible use of alcohol and accordingly reserves the right to permanently or temporarily revoke the drinking privileges of any guest who violates NCL’s Guest Code of Conduct or who is deemed a danger to himself, herself or others by vessel management. Continued abuse of alcohol while sailing and/or violation of NCL’s alcohol policy may result in immediate disembarkation.

“I’ve never heard of private balconies having security cams”

They have outside cameras that survey the entire length of the ship.
