When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.
In follow-up interviews, respondents expressed concerns about Obama's lack of military service and experience leading men and women in uniform.
''Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief," said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.
Underlying much of the uncertainty is Obama's stated 16-month timetable for pulling combat troops out of Iraq, as well as his calls to end the ''don't ask, don't tell" policy to allow gays to serve openly in the military, according to survey responses and interviews.
Nearly one-third of respondents -- including eight out of 10 black service members -- said they are optimistic about their incoming boss.

IFFY...
He will be their commander in chief. They will need to respect and obey him accordingly, as distasteful as they may find it. Their oath is to the Constitution, which puts them under the President’s command.
Well, imagine that.
BUCK EWE, FARKY!
Disgusting how the media hides this important information for the election of every liberal democrat.
Of course they will.
He will overcompensate by acting irrationally trying to gain the confidence of the military. His perceived “strength” will get us in trouble.
Would you want to be in Barak Obama’s army?
Recruiting could become a problem.
What? Six in 10 troops have misgivings about an incoming C-in-C with Marxist leanings who will introduce open homosexuality to the military, slash their funding to pay for stimulus packages, deny them victory in Iraq (or at least not acknowledge it), and likely at some point place them under UN command and make them subject to the World Court?
How dare they?
Obama’s oath is to the Constitution, too. We’ll see how he protects it-— or not.
Yes they will. But it doesn’t mean they will like it or like him. We have sunk to a new low. He is a low life political hack who got elected cause he got all the dissatisfied to vote for him mindlessly as a block and we didn’t have the courage or smarts to nominate a real candidate instead of a dem party clone. Well, I survived Carter and will do the same with “the one”, unless he takes away our freedoms and then we may have the country tear itself apart. As in the words of the poet, “don’t look now, the joke’s on you!”
I served under the 'toon as CIC, so I sympathize. Yes, it will probably be distasteful for the majority, but they'll act in accordance with their oath.
They'll behave professionally, but I seriously doubt Obama will ever be treated warmly.
For example, 'toon visited my base, and troops were ordered to attend an event. They went, but there was no whooping and hollering. Simply polite applause and professional restraint, despite the handlers' attempts to get the troops rev'd up.
I bet one place Comrade Odinga - er, excuse me, Cousin Obama - is going to start sending them is to Africa, to enforce his will and the will of whatever party he is supporting there. We have never ever had a president who was so involved with foreign politics, particularly third world foreign politics, and I think this will emerge as a major problem.
"Yo, troops...!"
We no longer have a working Constitution.
LOL! Good job with the sign on the door.
Yeah, as long as they remain in the military, which many won't do. President Bambi will have to institute the draft and then, all those idiots who voted for him will be serving in various war zones LOL
I can't take credit for it. I snagged from another thread and didn't notice the signs till after I posted it.
6 out of 10??? That is awfully low. I bet the numbers are higher, it is just that some of them won’t say how much they disdain the Marxist.
