President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening. As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

Yeah, right. Overawed and inspired by "hi, guys." See the movie Master and Commander (great naval movie, although British) to understand what happens when a leader tries to lead by being 'one of the guys.'

I think BO is far more dangerous than the Clintons were/are. Bill basically just wanted to have a good time - BO intends to change our country. Change we won’t want to believe could ever happen in the USA.

Look at the pictures the Colonel is saluting the floor not giving eye contact with “H”. As a matter of fact he may just be trying to hide his face.

Is he smart enough to take lessons — now — on how to salute?
Clinton didn’t and looked like an embarrassed jerk when he tried it as President. He then found an actual Army vet in his admin and took lessons in the O office.
Funny, but all our recent Rep presidents didn’t need lessons.

I work with troops every day. Courtesy is ingrained in their training. What I see is courteously neutral facial expressions.

During the campaign I tried the tell some Obama supporters that it's important for the President to have the respect of the military and that Obama doesn't have this respect. I was answered with erie silence. They hadn't thought about. In fact most Obama supporters haven't thought much about anything. If they did think, they would not have voted for the guy.
For the most part Obama supporters are very foolish, childest, and naive people. It's just that simple. Nothing else need be said.

LOL! Either the Wizard of Oz theme song or the song that was played whenever Elvira Gulch (aka Wicked Witch of the West) appeared. Unless Hellary has claimed that one as her own.

Isn't there a Marine guard at the door to the President's helicopter? If I remember correctly, they
may, as a courtesy, render a salute to the CIC even though he/she is technically a civilian. I remember during the Clinton "Presidency" (gag, if you could call it that) the guards chose
not to salute the {expletive} who was quoted as having said he "loathed the military."
Wonder if O is in for a similar 4 years of cold-shouldering? I hope so, he doesn't merit any respect (personally) from the military, only his title/office deserves respect. Gotta love those Marines.

An incoming CIC that does not have the support of the troops. I have to take a deep breath, while I shake my head.
Nice.......

God bless all our military for their brave and selfless service for all of us.
The election results have only increased my doubts as to whether the general public is worthy of the military’s many sacrifices.
All I can say is how sorry I am - I tried my best to defeat Obama.

I served in the military under the Kennedy/Johnson, Carter, Reagon, Bush 41, Clinton and finally Bush 43 years. Talk about a morale roller coaster ride.
