President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening. As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

I have to take a deep breath, while I shake my head. Nice.......
Obama will silently have them “encouraged” from now on.
We have an “A-hole-in-Chief” who can’t stand the military. Wonderful.
Check the thread you posted after this one.
Didn’t they play “Hail to the Chief-Elect!”
He is a zero and a putz.
F the poseur
He will legally be CIC, but in no way does he fit the role. I’m still in a daze; I can’t believe the American people did this to themselves - electing an empty con-man in a time of crisis.
He should have left his photographer at home. It would have been a nice touch. A human touch.
Will he?
The only support O has, is people with their hand out. The military isn’t his venue.
Guess they heard Zero’s speech this summer proclaiming this country needs a “Civilian Defense Force” that needs to be “just as powerful as our Armed Services”. No wonder our brave men and women in uniform have cool receptions for a guy that wants a rival home army to shoot at the very troops he now has to lead.
In case anyone needs recent history of what that looks like, Hugo Chavez’s ascent to power in 2002 had his own “civilian defense force”, The Bolivars, and Chavez actually commanded them to shoot into a crowd of anti-Chavez protesters when the Venzuealan Army refused to do it. The Bolivars were all too happy to start slaughtering citizens for their “Dear Leader”.
Good for the troops to give this aspiring dictator the icy reception.
This was actually a topic of Christmas post-dinner conversation; the lack of support from the military for boyHitler. It actually bodes well for the Republic. It will prevent any shenanigans.
Gawd, I do not envy their next 4 years. I had the Carter Admin early in my career..... Reagan was a hurricane of fresh air after that douchebag. We have to support our warriors even more now.
They sat quietly and respectfully?
Must have been a bunch of conservatives.
Well, we had that for eight years with the “Bobbsey Twins” (the dual Presidency of the Clintons) - and we somehow survived. I would imagine the military is going to need a huge amount of support from just plain patriotic citizens morale-wise. Material support may be in short supply, as always in Democratic administrations which spread them thin all over the world getting them into skirmish after skirmish and then making deep cuts where they don’t have what they need to do the job.
It sounds like the Pres. elect has not earned the respect of the military (which does not cotton to Sissies-in-Chiefs).
****As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. ****
That is because they were so overawed by his presence among them they were rendered speachless!
Ok, Sarc /off.
He is not yet the CIC and until he is there is no reason to stand at attention when he enters the room.
You and I both.
And this Civilian Security Force? Will it swear an oath to uphold the Constitution, or an oath of personal loyalty to 0bama, hmm?
“Hail to the Chief” will no longer be played after Jan 20th. The theme song from the Wizard of Oz will be used.
