NY State Democrats closing ranks around slasher?

(H/T: Instapundit) It’s been obscured by the Christmas season, but it looks like that incoming State Senator Hiram Monserrate’s (D) recent attack…

What? Oh, you missed it? Well, as I noted, it was obscured by Christmas. They arrested the guy after he broke a beer bottle (deliberately broken so that it’d scar more*) and then carved up his girlfriend’s face with it*. Twenty stitches around the woman’s eye, but hey: Monserrate’s supposed to be “hot-tempered” and the woman had another guy’s business card in her purse*.

You could hardly expect him to excuse that, right?

Anyway, the New York Democratic organization’s closing ranks*:

Hassell-Thompson: Dems’ Muted Monserrate Response ‘Appropriate’

To call the Senate Democrats’ response to assault charges lodged against their future colleague, Hiram Monserrate, “muted” is actually something of an understatement.

With the exception of Minority Leader Malcolm Smith’s two-line statement, released last Friday through spokesman Austin Shafran, about the “very serious” allegation that Monserrate slashed his girlfriend’s face with a piece of glass, no member of the conference has uttered a disparaging public peep about the Queens lawmaker.

Just one, Sen. Eric Adams, has defended Monserrate, raising questions about the way his case has been handled and accusing the NYPD of trying to publicly humiliate the senator-elect because he has been an “outspoken advocate for police reform.”

Meanwhile, the chief of staff to Senate Democrat leader Malcolm Smith - one Mortimer Lawrence - stopped by to see what he could do for Monserrate. On his own hook, of course, and having nothing to do with the fact that New York Senate’s partisan breakdown for the next term is currently at 32-30 Democrat, but with a recount offering the potential to make it all tied.

Nothing at all, of course.

Moe Lane

PS: You know who would love to hear from you? The New York GOP, that’s who.

*Allegedly.

Further proof that for Democrats, political power is their one and only concern. All other considerations, ranging from domestic violence to prostitution to killing someone (intentional or not), come in a distant second place(at best).

...And as a civil rights advocate, he led the successful fight to secure immigrants' rights and protect residents' confidentiality by working with the Mayor to create a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, Executive Order 41, regarding sensitive information in city agencies. This historic policy ensures the city's safety by allowing all residents (including illegal aliens - mine) access to necessary city services, including emergency health care and fire prevention.

Education has been at the forefront of Hiram's agenda since his inauguration. Within the past years, he has allocated funding for two schools, a new elementary and high school to alleviate the overcrowding that has plagued the Corona public school system. Considering the overwhelming number of immigrant parents, Monserrate has also made sure translation services are provided at each and every school in New York City by law, enabling every parent to become fully involved in their children's education.

Raised and educated in Queens (no mention of where he was born) and a product of the City University of New York, Hiram has provided millions of dollars in necessary funding to ensure the quality of life in the borough, helping to expand libraries, provide quality playgrounds and greenspace and support language and job training programs.

From here.

For those not familiar with NYS Democrat politics, Eric Adams is a retired NYPD Lt. who was a twenty year race hustler in Sharpton’s league. He invented the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement hustle and was never ever a friend of cops. Monserrate did 11 years in the NYPD and jumped out the door just before he would have gotten fired.
He admitted to being crazy to a Department shrink. But as crazy as he is, he's not stupid and he is still smarter than that dope Lynch that is the PBA president. Monserrate got his support by promising to be a supporter of the cops then immediately started stabbing cops in the back once he was safely elected. Lynch went along with this because he has been selling the PBA endorsement to Democrats for years. He'll get his payoff when he retires. Rumor is Lynch will run for State Senate himself, as a Democrat of course. The only stand up former cop in NYC politics is Senator Marty Golden. Class dismissed.
