How long will the media continue its gushing adoration of Barack Obama? This is the question raised by the adulatory prose of The Washington Post's Eli Saslow:
Between workouts during his Hawaii vacation this week, he was photographed looking like the paradigm of a new kind of presidential fitness, one geared less toward preventing heart attacks than winning swimsuit competitions. The sun glinted off chiseled pectorals sculpted during four weightlifting sessions each week, and a body toned by regular treadmill runs and basketball games.
Such "reporting" ought to make Saslow a laughingstock among the hard-bitten cynics of the Washington press corps, because Obama's gym enthusiasm is not really "a new kind of presidential fitness." President Bush is ferociously fit, his mountain-bike sessions notoriously grueling. Bush doesn't make a habit of going around shirtless with the sun glinting off his pecs, but a couch potato, he ain't.
At some point, hagiographic treatment of Obama will end, if only because of market saturation. In 2008, Obama was featured on the cover of Time 14 times, and 11 times on the cover of Newsweek. and if the coverage wasn't always as schoolgirl-giddy as Saslow's, it was overwhelmingly positive. The news-consuming public will eventually tire of worshipful profile features and stenographic accounts of Team Obama's talking points.
The press corps' credibility and self-respect is at stake, when Obama feels no compunction about chiding the Chicago Tribune's John McCormick that he will "waste his question" by asking about the Blagojevich scandal.

To clean this up for FR, I would say that a huge pile of Socialist Liberal feces can only be kept a secret for a few seconds before the obvious stench escapes. The same scenario will be accurate for the Messiah and the MSM. The stench WILL escape once the truth is found out and then American rage will erupt. Just my prediction.

The love fest will continue indefinitely, just as it did with slick willie. Hussein and the MSM have everything in common—contempt for the nation and the American people, knee-wobbling love for the “highly successful” nations of Europe, along with the hope of creating a socialist nanny state in which they are the chosen people and we the great unwashed. Don’t expect truth, facts or straighforward reporting of any kind in the near future.
My prediction is at least 4 years, and I think the folks in the media are hoping for 8 years of adoration.

They've invested way too much in this guy to allow him to fail. They will support him to the end, and they will actively defend him by trying to destroy anyone who publicly dares to question him.

One of these days he is going to have to actually do something, then we shall see. Or more correctly, then everyone that voted for him will see.

I’m sure the media will find a way to keep Obama’s nose clean after his policies fail and taxes skyrocket. The boogeyman will be that evil GOP (nevermind the fact they’re not in power and don’t control the house or senate). A few bluedog dems may get thrown to the wolves but the MSM will *never* hold the real villains accountable.

As far as his basketball playing, I would not be afraid of running into a pick he set or taking a charge from him. In a skirmish, I’d take W over him, despite the age difference.
Fully agree. The only thing at stake here is the length of time for the media to fold.
