Hey, let is bail Ford/GM/Chrysler out so that we can continue to reward this kind of behavior. I would be so pissed being a non-union salary man (engineer, middle management, etc.) at any of the big three (they have gotten hammered with pay and benefit cuts) when they pay these moron $100,000+ a year for doing nothing. Absenteeism at 33% a day? Prizes and cash to come in to actually do your job? WTF???

One accquaintance told me about the almost unbelievable crap that
UAW workers perpetrated at the Chrysler plant he worked in.
Leaving by noon for the local watering hole and having subordinants
cover for them if any questions about their where-abouts might arise.
And that was 20 years ago.

I don’t know about auto plants, but in the steel mills there were always a certain number of workers on the clock who did nothing but union representation work the whole day, including the local union president and a certain number of other officers.
It was perfectly “legit” according to the contract in the mills.
Probably the same arrangement here, and its just one of the work rules that hampers the big 3.

they should do the same thing with cops and "overtime" pay. The biggest scam is the "disability" to some of the union firefighters. Every big fire, somebody decides on who gets to pull disability.
There are a lot of cops in their mid 40's to mid 50's that are "retired" and some in their 30's that are disabled ..... all living in Florida.
They should check it out. Unfortunately the reporters could get killed going after cops.

Exqueeze me?! Rrizes and incentives to get people to show up for work?!
Note to Ford: They're getting a paycheck. If they don't show up to work, fire their a$$es. If you can't, move your dang operations to right-to-work states.

This must be a day for craziness from Michigan...there are a bunch of threads today describing the insanity coming out of that state.
