Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki unexpectedly cancelled a scheduled visit to Tehran, which was to follow an official visit to Turkey.
Reliable sources explained that Malikis sudden return to Baghdad has to do with the possibility that U.S. president-elect Barack Obama might be visiting U.S. troops in Iraq during Christmas.

Merry Christmas, machogirl!
Thanks. My son is at Old MOD and seems to be doing well. Hope to have him home soon.
I was on the MOI side of that for a year - until this past April.
I'm now in the reconstruction mission for GRD.
Merry Christmas from Carolina!
Here’s a Christmas story for you courtesy of Wretchard on his Belmont Club blog on Pajamas Media:
“Messiah (HWV 56) is an oratorio by George Frederic Handel based on a libretto by Charles Jennens. Composed in the summer of 1741 and premiered in Dublin on the 13 April 1742, Messiah is Handels most famous creation and is among the most popular works in Western choral literature. It includes the very well-known Hallelujah Chorus. It was premiered during the following season, in the spring of 1742, as part of a series of charity concerts in Neals Music Hall on Fishamble Street near Dublins Temple Bar district. There is a story told (perhaps apocryphally) that Handels assistant walked in to Handels room after shouting to him for several minutes with no response. The assistant reportedly found Handel in tears, and when asked what was wrong, Handel held up the score to this movement and said, I thought I saw the face of God.

Will they be required to salute him?
Naw, he is still a civilian.
Yes Allegra, a very Merry Christmas to you, and to the rest of those keeping us safe. May God Bless you all.
How about publishing his itinerary?
I must admit I would find it saddening if the troops gave him a super warm welcome, I am just being honest!
I know the one other time he went he got a huge welcome, but it was staged with only troops that supported him.
Obama is not my President!!! I despise the man!
Merry Christmas from Delaware,Allegra!
A prayer for your safety, and for the safety of your friends. Please let them know we appreciate your service on our behalf to keep us safe and free.
Let’s hope Hussein doesn’t ruin Christmas for any of our troops. He can come anytime after Jan. 20th.
Shoe throwing is an Iraqi expression of contempt.
Maybe a better expression of contempt for American culture would be to have someone please throw him a shirt so we don’t have to look at his pecs.
