Santa survived, as did the toy soldier, a snowman, a Menorah and other huge inflatable decorations that fill the front lawn of Marietta City Councilman Van Pearlbergs home.
But a huge white bear holding a dreidel didnt fare so well suffering a large slice to the back. A blow-up policeman, pulling a Santa over for speeding, lies on its side.
Four teenagers were arrested by Marietta police for grinching allegedly using a machete to destroy some of the inflatables.
Marietta police caught the group of teens running from the home shortly before 3 a.m., before they could destroy much of Pearlbergs display at the corner of Church and Sessions streets.
Pearlberg, also a Cobb County deputy assistant district attorney, said fathers of two of the four teens arrested called later and apologized. His concern is that the teenagers were armed with knives and a machete.
Pearlberg doesnt plan to stop his holiday show, although he has lost about half of his collection this year. Two weeks ago, someone knocked down and damaged three or four of the inflatables.

Anyone with a Christmas display should put out a sign he or she is a district attorney.
Can't get choked up about that one.
The perps should each get one slash from a machete.
White Punks On Dope.
running from the home shortly before 3 a.m .
EXCUUUSEEE ME!
Teenagers out of bed at 3 a.m.? Unless they were enroute to pick up and deliver newspapers at that time there is no reason for a teenager to be up and on the streets at that time. The parents should have been out looking for them with blood in their eye.
As for the two fathers calling and apologizing; that is acceptable only if they drag their kids by, have them apologize and display their glowing red buts.
Those teens did what they did because they knew, didnt think but knew, they could get away with it. This was demonstrated by their fathers apologies not theirs.
IIWKFAD (If I were King for a day) all four of teens would be dragging a gunny sack around Cobb County, dressed as elves, picking up street trash. While not a physical or financial punishment it would embarrass them in front of their friends (Did you see John, the elf yesterday?) and would probably prevent this from happening tomorrow or next year.
Not to excuse these juveniles but. . . I HATE those inflatable yard decorations. And why is it that they (both delinquents and expensive decorations) seem to be numerous in poor neighborhoods?
The only good thing to say is these teens have some drive. As a teen, I was too lazy to be a vandal.
There is a certain method of applying rock salt that would be useful in this circumstance.
Some people choose to celebrate holidays when they don’t have the dollar to play with.
“...suffering a large slice to the back. A blow-up policeman, pulling a Santa over for speeding, lies on its side.”
These teens deserve a medal!
Neighborhood is not poor. And I think the teens are just middle class
white boys out messin’ around.
I would say a two year jail term would be fair, they can spend the second year on a work release. I just can not stand those who violate the property rights of others.
Means call all you want, I'm going to hang a felony on these A++holes.
Agreed....but they should also be made to make
RESTITUTION.
