Given some of the reactions to an item I wrote yesterday about Barney Frank's objections to Rick Warren giving the invocation at the inauguration, let me state for the record that I lean libertarian on marriage. On the one hand, I don't like courts substituting their judgment for legislatures or the will of the people. But in the long run, I think it might be better for government to recognize that marriage is a religious or spiritual institution, and confine its role to enforcing agreements between partners.
That said, I can't help but chuckle at the way the MSM is twisting itself into knots over the Rick Warren issue. The latest, most entertaining episode occured on this evening's 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, on MSNBC. David Shuster discovered that, contrary to his presumption, civil rights pionoeer Rev. Joseph Lowery, also on the inaugural program, is opposed to gay marriage, too!

Whoops! Shuster finds out Rev. Lowery doesn’t support gay marriage either ping to Today show list.
Barney Frank won't put up with this.
OOOPS is right.
When this came out originally, Lowry was touted as the ‘balance’ to Warren.
LOLOL...too funny.
I am sure that Shuster knew full well about Lowery’s position on gay marriage and thought this would be a good time reveal the information.
Everyone is busy with family, wild weather, and travel plans.
I think you might be giving Shuster too much credit. If you have a chance, please watch the video. I really don’t think he was aware of Lowery’s position.
You may be correct but I think they go over everything before the show gets on the air.
That said, Shuster is a dirtbag.
LOL.......just couldn’t resist.
Rev Lowry recognized the hateful problem which was racism, however he reconized the difference between a hate problem and simply a moral one..which opposition to gay marriage IS! Good for him.
Let me state for the record I think marriage is a good way for a man to lose half his money when she files for divorce. I don’t see why people want a government contract for their personal relationship.
But that said let’s quit humoring the gays and their what 5% of the population?
We don’t need to defend being against gay marriage. The whole idea is LAUGHABLE and absurd. Yes almost as silly as the union between a man and a BOX TURTLE.
You want to bend the law to feel good about yourselves gays? Give me a break. Just go about your private business and leave the rest of society alone.
It comes as such a shock to the leftist Mediascum when anyone does not share their little world-view:
David Shuster: “I don’t understand this - EVERYONE I KNOW is gay, bi-sexual, or at least completely in favor of ‘gay-marriage’....”
Why should it be surprising that Rev. Lowery is opposed to same-sex “marriage”? He is a Gospel preacher; it is no more surprising than a Muslim imam opposing same-sex “marriage”.
