Rene-Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, a founder of the hedge fund Access International Advisors, was found dead early Tuesday in his office in Manhattan, the French business daily La Tribune reported on its Web site, after losing as much as $1.4 billion that had been invested with Bernard L. Madoff, the money manager accused of running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme. Mr. de la Villehuchet, 65, committed suicide, La Tribune said, citing a someone close to Mr. de la Villehuchet.
Mr. de la Villehuchet had been trying to recover the money that Access International raised in Europe and invested through Mr. Madoffs business, La Tribune reported.
Paramedics responded to a call at a Manhattan address matching that of Access International, people briefed on the situation told DealBook. They found a victim, whom they pronounced dead, but have not yet identified the man.

Madoff investor commits suicide in New York: Report
Of interest.
Terrible news... I’m sure this will not be the last such incident.
I said a few days ago that the ripples from L’Affaire Madoff had already shortened the lives of many older people, and would probably result in suicides like this one, which I would hold Madoff criminally responsible for, exactly as if he murdered this man. Therefore, Madoff should be executed, since their is NO DOUBT he knew what he was doing, and the effect it could and would have on people. He is NO DIFFERENT from a murderer. He should pay the price. THAT, and THAT ALONE would send a message.
It would be nice if some of our bankers would feel that bad about the money they lose.
jumping out of a building would have made more of a splashy headline....
Why didn’t he just wait for the inevitable government bailout? We all know that it’s coming.
Suicide or unhappy clients of “Access International Advisors” blaiming him for losing their money?
My husband is surprised someone didn’t take Madoff “out” when he was on the street a few days ago....and thinks he should be executed....soon.
To coin a phrase.
It would have been more traditional.
I doubt anyone will take him out.
Take him out and miss seeing him squirm in the witness stand???
Naaaahhh.
So, I take it that Access International will not be getting its money back now.
Riiiighht...
No. Those that turned their heads and invested into something "too good to be true", were just as complicit as Madoff.
A thief-yes, a murderer-no.
Hmmm?
May I play Devil’s Advocate for a second?
Thanks.
Madoff is what he is — a raving psychopath. As long ago as 1999 warning bells were going off about this shady character yet the lazy, greedy and the wealthy (usually all three in one person) kept sending their money his way because of rumors heard in the Country Club and accepted Madoff’s bogus finanical statements on face value sometimes for YEARS without investigation.
So what if a few fat cats have to go a diet?
I’ll play the world’s smallest violin for them.
He’ll be offed, when the judge lets him walk...
