Obama absolves Emanuel in gov. scandal By: Mike Allen December 21, 2008 11:43 AM EST

President-elect Barack Obama’s aides plan to release a report this week absolving incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel of any impropriety in his contacts with the disgraced Illinois governor’s office, Democratic sources tell Politico.

The report is expected Monday or Tuesday. Obama said last week that he was delaying it until this week at the request of federal prosecutors.

The complaint against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, whose conversations had been secretly taped by federal investigators, tested the smoothly running Obama transition, with some Democrats fretting that the case presents a distraction that could last into the new administration.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, host of “This Week,” said during the roundtable on his program Sunday that the Obama legal team's review of contacts with Blagojevich found that Emanuel had only one phone conversation with the governor, and it was a “pro forma” conversation.

“I have been briefed on the review that Obama has done,” Stephanopoulos said. “The sources I talked to say that what it will show is there were actually far less contacts than we had heard – that Rahm Emanuel only had one phone call with Governor Blagojevich. It wasn’t even really about the Senate seat.”

If the Obamatrons can get together and absolve Rahm this quickly, imagine how difficult the birth certificate problem must be.

Obama said, “We just completed an investigation of our actions and we found that we did nothing wrong.”

Now that is transparency!

“Rahm lives about 150 yards away from Gov. Blago’s Chicago Office. “
This is interesting! I’ll bet there are logs showing every visitor, and time, at the gov’s office. Get them!

What’s your source for the story about the execution-style killings of three members of Obama’s church?

You can bet that the Federal Prosecutors are busy deleting all of Ram-bo’s calls except one. After all, Obamanut has spoken and we want to keep our cushy jobs.

So I guess this absolves Blago? After he said he had nothing to do with this scandal?

Only God can absolve — and if you are familiar of the priest’s words of absolution during Confession, you know why I make this statement.

He apparently thinks he has power he doesn’t have a right to yet; and thinks that most Americans think he does! He just throws out these remarks as if he speaks, the people hear him, and all is good in the kingdom! (grim chuckle)

It’s like in the “Wizard of Oz” when the people of the Emerald City saw the witch making messages in the sky, and they look up and say: “The Wizard will explain it!” The guard at the door of the palace tries to reassure the people by telling them to go on home, the “Wizard has matters in hand”, or something to that effect.

The people believed everything about the wizard and what he said. They were so controlled by him as their ruler. They were like children being controlled! That is what it is with a lot of Obama’s supporters and what apparently the Dem. party as a whole hope to do the people of America!

Those people couldn’t even think for themselves; they were so controlled by him. It was mostly benevolent. They didn’t realize that he was indeed, as Dorothy and friends called him, “a humbug” when they ‘uncovered him’!

The sad thing is, a lot of people are like the citizens of “Emerald City”! Also, those are the only people that seem to matter to Obama. The rest of us who didn’t support Obama don’t even count as Americans to him, but we are out here. He won’t always be able to shut us out of the process of the government. I guess we’ll see what we are really made of as a people. We did it once upon a time, we (hopefully) can do it again!

Obama investigates Obama team and finds no wrong doing! OKAY! We can now move on! /s

We are quite that stupid just yet!!!

I’m sure Stephie, et al would approve of Bush investigating Bush team and clearing them without an outside investigation. /s

Obama said at first that his team had NO CONTACT with Blago!

President-elect Barack Obama’s incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had a deeper involvement in pressing for a U.S. Senate seat appointment than previously reported, the Sun-Times has learned. Emanuel had direct discussions about the seat with Gov. Blagojevich, who is is accused of trying to auction it to the highest bidder.

Emanuel talked with the governor in the days following the Nov. 4 election and pressed early on for the appointment of Valerie Jarrett to the post, sources with knowledge of the conversations told the Sun-Times.

The leaked details of an internal transition team review of contacts with Gov Rod Blagojevich, who is accused of - but denies - trying to “sell” the seat, will open Mr Obama up to accusations of hypocrisy and cronyism because he had indicated he would not intervene in filling the vacancy.

According to ABC News, the internal review shows that the President-elect’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had one phone conversation with the governor and several more with his aides.

Is it just me, or do these two accounts seems at odds with each other?
