Bush Has Made Us Vulnerable
WSJ Online ^ | 19 dec 08 | MARK HELPRIN

In his great Civil War history, "Decision in the West," Albert Castel describes the last Confederate hope of victory. If in 1864 the Confederate armies continue to exact a steep cost from the North, "the majority of Northerners will decide that going on with the war is not worth the financial and human cost and so will replace Lincoln and the Republicans with a Democratic president and Congress committed to stopping hostilities and instituting peace negotiations." He cites the resolution of the Confederate Congress that: "Brave and learned men in the North have spoken out against the usurpations and cruelties daily practiced. The success of these men over the radical and despotic faction which now rules the North may open the way to . . . a cessation of this bloody and unnecessary war." Plus ça change .

Helperin is correct in his assessemnt of the american public and congress. But to title the article and attack Bush is incorrect. It is more of “ Its Bush’ fault” and Helperin never gets close to attacking congress and the euroweenies and the MSM and the fifth column in this country.

To blame Bush is the ultimate childish denial ( in the belief that ‘Daddy” could make it all right on his own cause he is the big, strong Daddy)... to fearfully think that one man can not turn around all those forces....and the littany he goes on” if only, if only Bush had spoken out more, if only he had taken out Iraq, afghanistan, Iran in one fell swoop, if only he had told off congress ...”

Well, we don’t have a dictator, we have one lone man who
stood courageoulsy against Islamofascism...against all odds!
I admire and am grateful to Bush...let the Bush bashers see how it will feel with Obozo.

No I am not from China. I am a very proud American Citizen who knows the extreme danger of islamic terrorists much more than you do. In fact you do not seem to care about the islamic terrorists but rather you are making up lies about President Bush and accusing him of destroying the economy.

Credit card holders got out of hand, people flipped houses they couldn’t afford to buy, CAFE standards and the UAW destroyed the Big 3 and all you can do is blame Bush?

Please.

A key part of the war is keeping the public on your side, and he did not come close.

You are exactly right.

The media was running an ADVERTISING campaign against Bush and the war in Iraq. Companies pay big money for media advertising because it works.

They were pretending it was news, but it was really ADVERTISING. You can't beat an advertising campaign, especially if it's a stealth campaign.

I'm taking bets about the first time we get hit again after Bush. We'll see pictures and film of the previously "unmentionable" horrors of 9/11 all over the media - if it serves the purposes of the Democrat party. Think about that.

They went over the line of outright treason at 90 mph, and didn't even blink...

Really!

Have you ever heard of "free trade" and Mr. Bush's appointee to the USTR? If you have, you'll have two pieces of evidence that Mr. Bush HAS had a LOT to do with our gutted economy.

You haven't learned your citizenship lessons very well, I expect, or you wouldn't be so quick to call names.

Have you been out of the country for the last eight years?

You clearly don’t understand how corrupt the last THREE administrations have been.

Mr. Bush is well aware of his policies that have harmed individual rights in the name of the global economy and exercised a very soviet method of controlling the economy.

What do you think Mr. Bush means when he declares Independence is dead and ‘interdependence’ is the fate of our country?

RE “They went over the line of outright treason at 90 mph, and didn't even blink...”

There were two occasions it was treason and GWB had his justice department do nothing about it, too busy crucifying scooter Libby.

No, even FNC was having trouble finding positive things to say about Iraq 2006 and all GWB had to say was “UHHHH, DUHHH, Stay the course”. He was the cause of the election disaster 2008, democrats ran against him while he cut deals with them AGAINST republicans.

He gets the blame for Obama, he got him elected.

But it’s also crazy Western rules that require them to establish tax rates that are well above the average of the developing world.

They do this in order to qualify for the debt we issue them.

Some countries have 30% + rates that kick in at a few hundred bucks.

That’s why no companies ever move there.

We are frankly part of the problem. If we keep treating them like infants, they will continue to behave as such. When we cut off South Korea they went from third world to developed in a generations time. The same can be done in Africa.

“Free Trade” is a falsely named agenda to redistribute wealth. The facts are that socialists and communists are getting enormously wealthy from the socialist inspired “free trade” agenda and you know it.

If you really are a US citizen, you’d know this country was founded on the ideals of free enterprise. You’d know that “free trade” sowed the seeds of the American Revolution against the British empire corporations because “free trade” harmed Americans. You’d also know that the British “free traders” agitated to start the civil war, because “free trade” needs slave labor and they wanted the American South to keep slavery alive.

Where did you study for citizenship? They really fed you a lot of crock. I’m surprised you passed the test.

It is not up to European Powers to decide the fate of the nations of Africa.

Yet they are.

Have you read any of the conference papers on African migration lately?

I’ve noticed that you don’t dispute that “free traders” have been responsible for two wars on American soil. Mr. Bush is a “free trader” but then so is Obama.

It is not name calling, it is a fact. What you posted is lunacy and not based on history, it is a make up history. Now go and read some history books and you can learn something rather than making up stuff.

You mean it points out your posts are propaganda and nothing else.

Where did you say you took your citizenship class?

It is my business when American citizenship classes are filling people’s heads with garbage. It is my business when outright propaganda meant to socially engineer the American people is presented as fact.

You cannot refute that “free trade” is a false name, and the agenda of “free trade” is to redistribute wealth by breaking down the domestic economies of the first world and sending production to third world slave labor countries, because history is clearly demonstrating that this is so.

You say Bush is ‘saving us from terrorists’, yet he himself has stated terrorism is a ‘hundred years war’, which means he has no intention at all of ‘winning’. He has also said, and it is by his own actions, that America is no longer independent, but ‘interdependent’. Your citizenship class should have taught you that politicians who destroy American independence are committing treason against the American people.
