ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The tight Minnesota U.S. Senate race between Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and Democratic challenger Al Franken has become incredibly close -- with Coleman clinging to a two-vote lead.
That's the latest tally after the state Canvassing Board spent a third day ruling on disputed ballots. There are hundreds of challenges yet to decide, as well as thousands of withdrawn challenges that have yet to be tallied.
Coleman had entered Thursday's session leading Franken by 360 votes. But that lead eroded all day as the board considered a pile of challenges brought entirely by the Coleman campaign. The pile included a big chunk of withdrawn challenges, many of which went quickly to Franken's column.

Washington State seems such an un-American place to me and is #1 on my list of states that I would like to see jetisoned from the Union. #2 and #3 are Oregon and MN, respectively. 47 States is all we need /s
From what Ann Coulter reported in her piece this week, there’s no way the senate is going to seat Coleman even if he does win. He should be suing and suing and suing, but he seems rather passive in all this somehow.
The seat is gone. Put a fork in him, he’s done. He was a disappointment anyway.
.....?
Are there no requirements in Minnesota for filling out forms CORRECTLY??? This is the same kind of form used for standardized testing. If a student was taking the SAT for example, and filled out his form the way these people and others have (seriously, some looked like my cat stepped in ink and wandered all over the ballots), would the testers say, what the hey, the student INTETENDED to get the answers right, so we’ll just count it okey dokey since it won’t go through the computer properly...I mean, there’s no standards in Minnesota now for voting properly, anything goes and it will still be counted? What kind of PC crap is that? Doesn’t the state have any professional pride or ethics? If the rules were followed for forms to be filled out properly, this recount wouldn’t have been necessary in the first place, IMO!
Secondly, why bother with a recount at all? We know the foolishness that goes on when Demmies are desperate. Why not just pass a law that says say, if there’s a 500 vote or less difference between the candidates, automatic runoff? Wouldn’t that save the state a boatload of money and time it takes for recounts??
Feh. What a mess. What an absolute mess.
Why the hatred?
I don’t know if I have the stomach for this crap anymore.
Thanks alot, fellow Minnesotans, for giving us yet ANOTHER celebutard washed up has been looneybird in this state. Didn’t we learn our lesson during the Ventura years???? Good grief.
WTF is right.
the quitters here on FR..didn't use to be that way back when it all began....we used to have people of courage then.......
if Minn elects this pervert Frankenstein, they deserve him...what a bunch of idiots......
we have to remember the damage done to the Pub party by losing elections to rats because we have arrogant third party voters who think they are helping by electing a total rat Senate and House and presidency...
started in earnest with Perot, Clintons'confidant, and it continues.....
no matter what, a majority voted against either Frankenstein or Coleman....
And Franken is a lunatic he is a dangerous man.
As long as the same criteria went for those that showed Colemman, I don’t mind about that.
The ones you post show Franken as the choice.
Franken is every bit as dangerous as The Messiah. Elections are being bought, rigged, right before our eyes and everyone just sits back and watches, like me, and comes on the internet and complains. Time to give it up, get out of this country before it’s like Cuba and you have to sneak out and take to the seas to do it.
.
The problemo with many of the Republicans who have close races or lose - is that they have wimpy liberal agendas themselves that differ little from democrats
Indys and others then float to the left in many cases
McCain is a prime example
McCain basically ran on Obama’s platform
Now McCain is screaming at conservatives and praising Obama and pledging to “work with him to achieve his plans”
What a loser!
Here's one where a voter obviously X'd out Franken and then chose Coleman.
It was obviously tossed out by the scanner because of the two marks--but how can human eyes not see the X thru Franken's mark.
These "judges" are in the tank for sure.
Obviously? That voter was an idiot and no vote should be recorded for either candidate based on the ballot.
You will know it’s all a fraud if the recounts stop as soon as Franken is ahead.
This isn’t new. Democrats have been cheating and stealing elections for ages.
This isn’t about Franken. It is about the voters of Minnesota. For it to have been even close, even WITH the third party candidate, shows where the people of the state stand.
In a democracy you not only get the government you want. You get the government you deserve.
We are still at that “awkward” stage, but for how long, I don’t know.
I understand that. But from what I also understand is that many of these ballots were disqualified for good reasons, and are now being counted to help Franken in more ways than one!
Anne Coulter said this would happen in her recent column. Colemans lead will magically dwindle until Franken assumes the lead and wins. They accuse us of stealing elections. I just listened to this song on YouTube, and man is it a nice thought:

I know it will, and the Republicans have no spine, so they’ll let it go.
