BREA - The man who prompted the U.S. Postal Service to shoo away Salvation Army bell ringers says he just wants the law obeyed.

Postal Service regulations prohibit any organization from soliciting on its properties. But Salvation Army bell ringers had been allowed to become a mainstay in front of the Brea post office during the holidays for 25-plus years.

On Nov. 24, when Sean Thomas saw the iconic bell ringers at the Birch Street post office – staffed by employees of the Evangelical Christian Credit Union – he decided to speak up. The Salvation Army is a Christian organization.

"How can we have a church set up a collection facility in front of a federal building?" the 65-year-old Brea resident said today; he is chairman of human resources for the Unitarian Universalist Church in Fullerton. "I wanted to know who allowed these people to be here. … I don't think it is appropriate."

Complainant is from a phony church, but is a post office proper for the SA?

The only good thing about the UUC is that on the Simpsons, Ned Flander’s kids were playing a video game called convert the heathen and one kid only nicked one guy and he only became a Unitarian.

Laws? In Obamaland, we don’t need laws.

Unitarian Universalist, in my experience, is a Lefty organization masquerading as a church.

I think what you have to ask yourself is what is the motivation here?

The Salvation Army is a fundraising and service providing organization that helps out the poor. The leftist holier than thou folks are hawking every imaginable way to drain us of our funds this holiday season, but if the Salvation Army is involved, it’s got to be a bad idea according to them.

This is anti-Christian in nature. Make no mistake about it.

Has it occurred to everyone else, that with the millions of bucks the entertainment industry has at it’s disposal, it is the normal citizen they shame into paying for more services for the poor with their last dollar?

If I was getting $10 - $20 million per movie, you sure as hell wouldn’t see me begging for donations. I’d cover the donations myself.

How about living by example you Hollywood do-gooders? And leave the Christian organizations alone.

I’ll be ringing the bell again this year tomorrow in front of our local grocery store. I did last Friday as well in front of our local Wal-Mart. We’ve been doing this for years and will continue. No one compels donors to give. It’s strictly voluntary. And I’ve yet to run into anyone who displays displeasure with our presence. Of course, we’re a small Midwestern community.

Imagine that the Universalist “Church” is the only officially approved church.

Let me get this straight.

The Salvation Army is one of the good charities where money actually goes to helping those in need. The SA has a loooong and exemplary history. They actually do, what they say, and whats expected from them.

And people complain.

In other words, you can feed or clothe the poor, just don't be a christian.

Well, I wouldn’t be surprised in time to see something to that effect come about.

It would involve a reconciliation of Catholic and Protestant churches, but that isn’t out of the question. It’s been a goal for some time. And with the loons we seem to have today, you can bet the Muslim faith will fit in there somehow. I have no idea how, but they’ll find a way.

Peaceably assembling, free association etc. We the People paid for that property.

Like Michael Newdow, Sean Thomas should be required to read Patrick Henry’s speeches before being permitted to submit a request for his repatriation to U.S. Citizenship.

He has disavowed in fact if not in words the U.S. Declaration and Constitution and thus has no standing. Born here, he is a resident alien, or a traitor.

Any judge who hears cases of this vexatious and evil nature should be impeached for similar reasons.

If Alinsky disciples use false premises—and they almost always do—we must challenge the entire paradigm.

I repeat: If Alinsky disciples use false premises—and they almost always do—we must challenge the entire paradigm.

Even with post offices, if the next immediate space is a public road, the sidewalk in front is most usually part of the public right of way.

I'd have to see the layout here, but if the post office has a setback (a design feature incorporated into almost all retail facility designs way back in the 1920s to prevent anarchist ~ read "Democrat" ~ mad bombers from killing people in post offices), the sidewalk would most likely be part of the postal facility and not part of the public right of way.

Since Brea was a dusty place at the side of the road in the 1920s, this building is most likely of modern design, protected against bombs, and therefore the nearest sidewalk would be also protected against the Salvation Army.

The Board of Governor's decision that resulted in restrictions on charitible organizations working in front of post offices (not inside post offices) was dominated by a board member whose wife was a mind-numbed, robot-like, hell-raising, screaming haridan Leftwingtard from San Francisco.

Sean Thomas no doubt feels proud of the success of his efforts on behalf of fascists and anarchists everywhere.

I agree. What you can count on is that the Jewish faith won’t though. And that will seal their fate IMO. We are looking at end days IMO. This turn on Christianity is a real bell weather occurrence for me.

No, that's really COLD. The temps haven't gotten out of the teens all week, and we're slated for a possible 12" of snow after some ice overnight. Last Friday wasn't too bad. But tomorrow promises to be something else.

We're the local Kiwanis Golden K and we do this every year. We also have our HS Key-Club join with us and take a number of shifts. It's a good opportunity to get involved in worthwhile community involvement.

Since when is the Salvation Army a “church”?

Just another gay, leftist asshole causing trouble for decent people.

I hope the people of his city let him know how they appreciate his “scroogeness”, esp. the homeless people.

A Christmas dinner visit to his house would really be nice. In fact, he could put them up for the night, feed them, clothe them, etc. Oh, I forgot, this creep doesn’t want to do that, even if by proxies.

This only helps to prove the meaness of some gay, leftist creeps. And an Unitarian no less (i.e. also known as marxist-lites).
