JUNEAU, Alaska, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said she would refuse a $25,000 pay raise during her current term as Alaska governor.
A state commission recommended boosting the governor's pay to $150,000 from $125,000.
The five-member state Officers Compensation Commission, created by the state Legislature, also said legislators needed more money, along with the lieutenant governor and government department heads, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
If the commission pushes ahead with a pay raise, Palin will not accept the money, spokesman Bill McAllister said.
"Her view is, it's just not appropriate to accept a pay raise in the middle of the term," he told the newspaper.
Palin's term ends in 2010.
Palin makes 46 percent more than her most recent predecessor, Frank Murkowski, but is the 24th-lowest paid governor, the commission said.
We can not praise this woman enough.
“”Her view is, it’s just not appropriate to accept a pay raise in the middle of the term,” he told the newspaper.”
In other words, she beleives in pay for performance, thinks she has more work to do and has just begun to earn her pay.
Palin ‘12.
(accept no RINO substitutes)
California should take a page from her book. Michigan too!
What kind of sinister game is she playing?
She’s not a dumb politician either...
God bless, Governor Palin. This is yet another example of why we voted for her and have the utmost respect for her.
“Shes not a dumb politician either...”
Darn tootin’. She is not a tone-deaf Washingtonian.
“Palin REFUSES $25,000 pay hike”
#####
This should be INTERNATIONAL headline news.
Meanwhile, various and sundry silverspooners like Kennedy and Pelosi gobble up every Congressional pay raise like clockwork.
Compare and contrast....
Who needs that $25,000 with the book deal she’s going to get? :)
Contrast that with the response from other pols, GOP and Dem alike, who say "What could I do? THEY voted the raise for me, I didn't ask for it" and keep the increase.
Sarah Palin 1/20/13—the 45th President of the United States of America.
Please God, make it so.
If the commission pushes ahead with her raise anyway, she could always donate it to charity- perhaps toward the church that was maliciously set afire last week.
She just showed her political savvy too. Just imagine what the Rats and RINOs would have said about her accepting the pay raise as she’s cutting the budget. She’s the only reason McCain didn’t come in third.
No wonder the loony left and the RINOs are deathly afraid of her.
Good move.
Other politicians TALK about budgetary restraint. Sarah makes it HAPPEN.
Other politicians TALK about ethical practices. Sarah OPERATES by them.
Other politicians TALK about family values. Sarah LIVES them.
And... Sarah is “unqualified” to serve as President??????
She’s walking the walk, leading by example.
I bet you she takes that 7 mil and donates it all to charity, no way does she keep it. Why, because she doesn’t need that kind of money to live a great life, she is happy, makes a good living, 125,000 in Alaska is pretty darn good, and Todd makes a pretty decent living too, I think I heard they make combined about 185,000, that isn’t small potatoes. Sarah is about EARNING her paycheck, not like Princess Caroline who thinks that just because it says Kennedy as her last name she deserves to be Senator. See this is why the libs hate Sarah, not because she is pro-life, not because she is FOR our 2nd Amendment, it is because she is REAL, she is not corrupt, and she doesn’t need some stupid pay raise to define her
“In other news:
With economy in shambles, Congress gets a raise “
Could you imagine President Palin taking on those dems in Congress? That’s a fight I would LOVE to see.
