ORLANDO, Fla. - The state confirmed Wednesday that clothing was also found in the trash bag full of a child's remains discovered near the Anthony home.
The remains were found last Thursday just blocks away from the home of Caylee Anthony, who was first reported missing five months ago.
Her mother, Casey Anthony, has been jailed on a first-degree murder charge.
The clothing discovery is the strongest sign yet that the state believes the remains belong to Caylee, reported WESH 2's Bob Kealing.
Authorities said they're uncovering new evidence almost every day.
Sources said they believe the victim was dumped soon after the slaying.
Prosecutors visited the crime scene along Suburban Drive on Wednesday. They learned that crime scene investigators and FBI forensics experts wouldn't be done processing the area until at least Thursday.
Teams carrying machetes continued cutting into the wooded area, and they expanded the search area from a half acre to an acre.
Investigators said the crime scene continues to give up more and more clues. Crime scene investigator technicians hope to piece together not only who the child was, but how the child died, and perhaps when the remains were dumped there in a plastic bag.
Two prosecutors met with investigators on Wednesday morning for a progress report on the search effort.
A short news conference was held to announce the search would stretch into an eighth day.
"We expected that it might have been late this afternoon that this scene might have been able to be cleared, but as we continue to discover items at the scene, we'll continue to hold the scene irregardless of identification. The medical examiner will make that determination as to when it is proper to make a proper announcement regarding identification," Orange County Sheriff's Office Capt. Angelo Nieves said.

More bones found; Cops had been on scene before

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) — Investigators in the Caylee Marie Anthony disappearance case say they have found “significant” skeletal remains in the same area where a child’s skull was found last week.
They also revealed that the utility worker who reported the find of a childs skull a week ago had been on the scene before and had also called authorities to report a strange odor in the same area on August 13th.
This admission came during a briefing given by Capt. Angelo Nieves of the Orange County Sheriffs Office to reporters at the scene late Thursday.
According to Nieves, a deputy did respond to the location on August 13th but Nieves said that they werent aware of what their response was when the deputy arrived on scene, but he added that they are currently investigating what exactly happened.
Originally the utility worker said he had gone into the woods to relieve himself.
Nieves also said the bones also appeared to be those of a small child. The remains have not been identified the skull and earlier finds have been undergoing DNA and other testing.
Because of their location and size authorities believe they are the missing toddler, who was 2 when she disappeared last summer. Caylee lived with her grandparents and her mother, Casey Anthony, just a few blocks away.
Casey Anthony is being held on a first-degree murder charge in Caylee’s death.
BEcause the hormones don’t get in the way.
Yes I think that is probably correct - I was merely saying Caylee didn’t speak very well for an almost three year old child and someone else had mentioned (back in the summer) that she wondered if that was an old video being used to throw off the timeline.
I didn’t know about the scan showing a broken neck.
Well, maybe little Caylee wasn’t so co-operative the second or third time her mother tried the chloroform trick, and the broken neck resulted from the struggle. Or, maybe the child woke up in the trunk and gave Casey a hard time when she returned to the car, and Casey gave the child a hard shaking. The broken neck, may not have been the cause of death, either.
Hard to imagine Cindy getting in a loud screaming argument with anyone...
How sad!!! I watch her on her great grandfathers lap..and I see fear in her eyes..she isn't even acting like a normal child that age..she is clinging and feeling safe!!
Caylee was chloroformed, had her mouth taped in case she woke up and stuck in that trunk more than once so her mother could party...the last time was poor little Caylees last breaths.
oh, that’s true. well, poor little child. breaks my heart.

ORLANDO, Fla. — New bones were discovered Thursday on a wooded lot where investigators found a skull and other skeletal remains believed to be Caylee Anthony, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff’s Capt. Angelo Nieves said the new bones were found on the perimeter of the search area off Suburban Drive where investigators and crime-scene technicians have been working since last week.
The sheriff’s spokesman also made a surprise announcement that the utility worker who reported finding the remains last week also made calls to authorities on three days in August.
It was not immediately known what he reported.
Nieves said his agency was investigating how those reports were handled. Nieves said a deputy was sent to the scene in August to follow up on the tip.
Orange County Sheriff’s officials will hold a press conference this afternoon at the sight where a body of a young child was found a week ago.
Captain Angelo Nieves, sheriff’s spokesman, will be on scene to deliver the news. Details about the press conference were not released.
These dysfunctional nutjobs having and keeping their kids - there oughta be a law against it.
Maybe they are hoping for a confession based on identifiable clothing in the bag.
Hey, TK!
Thanks for the updates.
Hi there maggief! I just read that the utility guy is suppose to be with LE tomorrow in a presser.
Florida retired 'Old Sparky' quite a while back, after he got Ted Bundy, thank heavens. Now we use the needle like everybody else.
On one show they said the area they found her body in is the SAME area that sick Casey burried her pet hamster. It is also known to kids in the area as the “pet cemetary”. This would make sense for Casey to dump her there in a trash bag. Some sentiment for death but also wanting to dispose of the headache in her life. Yes Casey, she was “near” all along and YOU knew it.
That's what I saw too!
This was premeditated and why I believe they used the word, “slaying”.
Steve Triggs, Director of Communications for Orange County, said the meter reader had been a county employee for a relatively short time and would appear at a news conference with the Orange County Sheriffs Office Friday afternoon. Triggs said he is being represented by outside counsel at the Countys expense.
The sheriff’s office said the meter reader had called in tips about the exact same area to Crimeline and the sheriff’s office three times in August, two weeks before Tropical Storm Fay hit and flooded much of Central Florida, including the area where the remains were found last week.
The sheriff’s office said it is focusing on its own deputies who came out on August 11 and 13 to inspect the scene. It’s unknown what the area looked like on August 11, the first day the meter reader called and reported seeing a gray bag.
Sheriffs officials said the man called Crimeline on August 12th. A detective checked records and determined the area already had been checked by a cadaver dog.
The sheriff’s office is also investigating deputies who came out and cleared the scene on the 13th of August. The meter ready accompanied the deputies but nothing was found.
Officials aren’t releasing the names of any of the deputies involved, but they are under administrative investigation.
Nieves said the meter reader went back last week because he had a nagging feeling that it was the place to look.
“He called on the 11th, the 12th and the 13th,” Nieves said. “Currently, we are following up on that sequence.”
WFTV legal analyst William Sheaffer said the developments would appear to benefit Casey Anthonys defense attorneys.
The defense has to regard this information as a godsend, said Sheaffer. The defense is ultimately going to make a lot of the fact the remains were discovered after numerous trips from the meter reader This is probably a game-changer.
...
Nationally-known forensics expert and author Dr. Henry Lee was with the defense team as they tried to barge onto the scene over the weekend, even after a judge told them they had no right to interfere with the criminal investigation.
Eyewitness News has learned Dr. Lee, according to a Court TV report last year, was accused by a Los Angeles judge of hiding or destroying evidence in the murder case against music producer Phil Spector. The evidence could have been the fake fingernail of the alleged murder victim, which could have proven that she did not commit suicide.
Spector’s trial ended in a hung jury.
Lee worked with Spector’s defense team attorney Linda Kenney-Baden, who is also now on Casey’s defense team.
