LONDON - The pilot of a vintage biplane says he ran into an unusual hazard while making an emergency landing a cow.
Rob Wotton says he was trying to land his World War II-era Tiger Moth after the engine stalled just after takeoff southwest of London on Sept. 14. He was about to touch down in a field when the animal wandered into his way.

"I have to say it is the first cow I have ever hit in 22 years' flying." Let's hope it's the last, as well.

What was Camilla doing out in that field without royal security protection?
To: DFG
Not a proper cow tipping, IMO.

"I clipped her and she went rolling away but seemed unhurt and carried on grazing. The aircraft was very slightly damaged." Close call for the cow. Dead-stick almost turned into dead steak. ;-)

Real timely reporting on this one. Incident happened 3 months ago, the footage has been on YouTube for a month and a half and MSNBC is just now getting around to it? Sweet.

Rather a risky way of starting the new sport of airborne cow-tipping

The de Havilland DH 82 Tiger Moth is a 1930s biplane designed by Geoffrey de Havilland and was operated by the Royal Air Force and others as a primary trainer. The Tiger Moth remained in service with the RAF until 1952 when many of the surplus aircraft entered civil operation.

For all of you animal lovers out there:
Cowgate solved: The cow is okay, but the Tiger Moth...don't ask!For the worried readers among you that were concerned about the safety of the cow that was hit by a Tiger Moth recently, fear not, as the official report has come out today informing us that the cow is thankfully okay, but the Tiger Moth definitely isn't, incurring "substantial damage" to the aircraft.
Still... it means that we can laugh at the video once again, so in all it's glory here it is: Video Link
