Pro-Life Rick Warren to Give Invocation at Obama Inauguration
CBNnews ^ | 12/17/08 | David Brody

Posted on 12/17/2008 10:53:08 AM PST by NormsRevenge

Pro-life pastor Rick Warren will give the invocation at President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration. It makes a whole lot of sense. Even though Warren and Obama disagree on the life issue, they do see eye to eye on many social justice issues. This move is also classic Obama because it is a signal to religious conservatives that he’s willing to bring in both sides to the faith discussion in this country. Obama has never shied away from that.

The benediction will be led by Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery. The Civil Rights leader seems to be the perfect pick on such an historic day in this nation’s history. Watch Reverend Lowery preach with Barack Obama watching here.

The full program is below: (by the way, The Brody File was not asked to take part in the ceremony. I wanted to read some of the "Best of The Brody File" blog entries but they said thanks but no thanks)

To end, I will quote another.

“Warren is coming to give the invocation at the inauguration, a “sacred” ceremony in our civic religion that celebrates the peaceful transition of power. Yes, Obama’s views on abortion are repugnant, but his inauguration still represents an essential moment in our constitutional Republic that should be celebrated with prayer, especially when the public official is clearly in need of it. I see Warren’s participation as sanctioning and celebrating our constitutional order, not Obama’s pro-choice views.”

Christ warned us about this.

People need to get in the Word more so that they have better discernment.

immoral person- endorses abortion on demand, steals from one to give to another for power, as a professed Christian endorses homosexuality

Covetous- ditto class warfare, is a power whore, as a professed Christian gives to planned parenthood to keep a baby from being an inconvenience

idolater— ditto with abortion, as a professed Christan says Christ words are impotent (I am the way, truth, life...)

reviler— Are you ignorant about this man are just playing stupid? This professed Christians brags about cussing/using harsh words against other people

drunkard-- unless he is still dipping his nose, social drinking/cigs no big deal

swindler— As a professed Christian do you actually think his campaign was Godly? Never did take that public money now did he

As a professed member of the Body, Obama has insulted/sinned against every believing Christan along with Warren by making a mockery out of the Word.

Read the Bible with God's perspective instead of trying to be a most awful gymnast in order to justify accepting sin which is the whole point.

Sacred my behind, it’s all about face time and abortion is only part of the problem.

“Celebrated with prayer”, to what god are they praying to? It’s not Abraham’s that is for sure.

Warren is getting his rewards which is why he is doing this.

Immoral person = a father who says about a potential grandchild, “if my daughter makes a mistake, I don’t want her punished with a baby.”

With his eyes wide open, I believe Warren has tacitly agreed to provide the pretext of moral legitimacy Obama needs with a large segment of Americans.

Whatever the rationale, whatever hoped for as a result of this implicit bargain, they are merely self serving tools to beguile Pastor Warren away from seeing this for what it is.

Vanity.

Jesus isn't the only way to God...

Wow. Not at all what SaddleBack's own website says. At one point, did you know that Daniel was consulted by a god-less king? I could find more examples...Isn't it sad how quickly 'the church' becomes 'an accuser of the brethren'...

Look up “emergent” or “emerging” church.

Saddleback itself may not espouse the worst heresies of the emergent church, but why associate with them?

How can you compare Warren to Daniel? Warren is a compromising false teacher who loves to be loved by the world. Daniel was the exact opposite.

“Obama and Warren.

Antichrist and false prophet?

Just askin’.”

The same question has come across my mind more then once. Here's a quick looksie at Warren:

He is a CFR member.
He was mentored by Robert (Rethink Christianity) Schuller and businessman Peter Drucker.
He “markets” Christianity.
He preaches a man-centered Gospel.
He has a Global P.E.A.C.E Plan he wants to see implemented using the “3 legs” of Government, Business/Private Sector and churches (regardless of denomination or faith).

http://herescope.blogspot.com/2007/06/tyranny-of-3-legged-branding.html

http://www.understandthetimes.org/inthenews/24_owr.shtml

“The priests said not, where is the Lord? And they that handle the law knew me not: the rulers also transgressed against Me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.” Jeremiah 2:8

Warren is blessing a man who believes in killing the innocent to a degree never seen in any other American politician. We must remember that the Lord does not let go unpunished the sins against the innocent (Amos 1:13).

Pray for repentance in this nation.

Warren is too sharp a man to not know why Obama has selected him. That makes him morally culpable. Say what you will about other cultural issues like gay marriage or drug use, but a politician who openly supports infanticide is not someone a man of God should be helping in the political sense.

To the whiners on FR who are upset about FReepers being angry at Warren over this: Jesus would certainly have dinner or meet with Obama. However, scripture doesn’t support the idea that He would participate in a political activity that makes evil look good, especially without condemning it in the process. Somehow I doubt Warren will give a speech criticizing Obama’s abortion position during the invocation. *Snicker*
