Pro-life pastor Rick Warren will give the invocation at President-Elect Barack Obamas inauguration. It makes a whole lot of sense. Even though Warren and Obama disagree on the life issue, they do see eye to eye on many social justice issues. This move is also classic Obama because it is a signal to religious conservatives that hes willing to bring in both sides to the faith discussion in this country. Obama has never shied away from that.
The benediction will be led by Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery. The Civil Rights leader seems to be the perfect pick on such an historic day in this nations history. Watch Reverend Lowery preach with Barack Obama watching here.

I sure hope I make it to the Pearly Gates when it is not on your shift.
I think there will be a whole lot of people who will try to argue with Him on their judgement day. Christianity lite has really taken a foothold, with its emphasis on materialism and the here and now.
How very liberal of you. Jesus did not befriend and embrace murderers or their eager accomplices. He did select a murderer’s son, Judas, but knew whom he served and what he would do. Warren is clueless and a sellout. Lending any ‘good name’ he may have built up to a defender of wickedness is hardly comparative to Jesus, but that was a nice try their, sycophant.
I’m leaning on your side, too. I don’t like Rick Warren and like him less and less as time goes on. However, Obama, as much as I don’t like the fact, will be our next president. I WANT God to bless our nation and we, as believers, are called to pray for our president. While I mistrust Warren, too, I do believe he’s a man of God and that we are called to not judge the heart of our fellow man. The presidential office is a public one. Let Warren pray for him and for our nation in this national event. It’s not about me and my feelings. It’s about God and His blessings. I want them.
What??? Rick Warren should definitely recuse himself from this one...
As far as how a Christan should act against another:
“If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” — Jesus Christ
“But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?
But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.”-- The Word as inspired by Jesus Christ
Hence, Graham is using the whole Word and not cherry picking in order to fit in an become accepted in the “world”.
I do worry that you are right. However, it's important for me to do the right thing regardless of what Obama intends. We will have to deal with that as it arises.
I heard the funniest thing out of a lib the other day (on Ingraham):
“The bible should be viewed as a living document that must be interpreted in the context of modern reality.”
Typical lib with no respect for the “wisdom of the ages” and thinking that their present knowledge and wisdom is better than God’s.
“May he be shunned forever”
How Amish of you.
Right On!
Jesus didn't help to swear in the Roman pro-consul and he harshly criticized the political leaders. Warren is helping all the Gov't types get their social agendas (stiff the tax-payer) passed.
No surprise, considering Warren's affiliation with the Emerging Church movement.
How in the hell can "honorable" and "Barack Obama" be used in the same sentence?
Ah yes. A cherry picking theology use to mask visceral hatred by 21st century zealots (in the 1st century sense)
Not too surprising we’d see Rick Warren doing this. He is, after all, the man who traveled to Syria to meet Bashar al-Assad and just thought he was a great guy completely IGNORING the fact that Assad’s Syria kills Jews and persecutes Christians.
Just a refresher:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53092
Why should he object to a man who supports the suffocation death of premature newborns as a matter of birth control or choice? Sorry, but Rick Warren displays everything that is wrong with these Opranity-type, feel-good, lukewarm churches.
Someone else I noticed on the Obama inauguration list - composer John Williams. He composed the music for the Indiana Jones movies, E.T., and Star Wars among others. I wonder if the musical selection will be “The Imperial March.”
Warren must care more about being seen than he does about killing babies.
Shameful
would that be before or after the gay pride band performs?
Having to listen to blathering pablum from Rick “Laodicean” Warren is just another reason to ignore this inauguration. Barry and Michelle are Reason #1 and #2.
I just learned that Rick Warren is going to participate in the inauguration ceremonies of Obama.
My previous high regard for Mr. Warren is gone. How could he participate and support a man who approves of infanticide. Just think of the legitimacy he gives Obama within the Christian community when Obama is anything but a Biblical Christian.
I will no longer read or encourage others to read his books or pay any attention to his advice.
He has sold his soul for acceptance by evil individuals.
