US President George W. Bush said in an interview Tuesday he was forced to sacrifice free market principles to save the economy from "collapse."
"I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system," Bush told CNN television, saying he had made the decision "to make sure the economy doesn't collapse."

My discussion is not esotteric. The administration is taking steps which have never been successful. Once again true solutions must reaffirm the inevitability of market forces countermanding human laws, and incorporating risk within all economic activities. To do otherwise means incurring an economic cataclysm our social network may not withstand.
Please tell me this is satire. Please? Pretty please, with sugar on top, and a cherry?
I with you on all this ST.
Silver lining... in another 35 days, they won’t have President Bush to kick around anymore.
I know..., I know.. it’s just sickening as far as I’m concerned. The Muslims are coming to take me away... ha, ha... LOL...
I won't bother asking if you see the self-defeating nature of the idea.
I shake my head. Kick a can. Start walking down that dusty trail into the sunset.
You asked — “US President George W. Bush said in an interview Tuesday he was forced to sacrifice free market principles to save the economy from collapse.
Forced? By whom?”
Ummmm..., perhaps the reality of a collapsed country going into chaos and anarchy... maybe...?
America has been exporting inflation for decades, with the world using the American dollar for their own business... It wasn’t such a bad deal for America, actually...
You said — “I won’t bother asking if you see the self-defeating nature of the idea.”
Actually none of these words here, that have been posted on this thread, including mine, will make any difference at all, in regards to what the government is going to do.
Bush and Cheney have spoken, the bailouts are continuing, we’re heading into a Great Depression..., etc...
Get ready for the big ride...
Nah, we didnt lose. We're just, um, taking time off for a vacation, yeah thats the ticket. We'll be sending our troops back soon.
I’ve heard what the last Great Depression was like (from both my grandparents and parents), and I’m not looking forward to what may be happening now... it’s not going to be pretty...
In other words, we destroyed the economy to save it.
On the other hand, we could try... “We took the patient off life-support to see if he could survive... The funeral will be Friday....” LOL...
For a country that depends on the internet [electricity] to communicate, American society will go Medieval in less than 30 days.
Can’t withdraw money, no telephone, no internet, car won’’t run.
It’s only one electro-magnetic pulse EMP away.
Smartest business startup today is a cohesive survival kit in knapsack form. Sell it over the internet...but hurry. ;^)
Not to be flippant, but I voted for Sarah Palin (not John McCain). A rationalization, perhaps, but my hope was to advance her political chances.
You said — “For a country that depends on the internet [electricity] to communicate, American society will go Medieval in less than 30 days.”
Yes, if our infrastructure collapses or is attacked by terrorists (either way), then there will be chaos and anarchy and martial law — and a return to the Middle ages...
I would think that Bush and Cheney are hoping to avoid that one... :-)

That EMP situation is a real problem, all right. That’s one reason why I would have liked to have seen Iran attacked, in regards to its nuclear facilities.
I hear that Al Qaida has a flotilla of ocean-going vessels, where (if they get their hands on a nuclear device), they can launch from sea and explode over the U.S. — and big-time trouble then...
Kind of like the Waco and janet reno. “We got a report that they were abuse the children (lie), so we burned the place to the ground, including the children.
Kind of like a post birth abortion.
Bush is a likeable oligarch and socialist. I will always be ashamed of myself for thinking differently.
He and the members of his elite party have stabbed all of us in the back.
I might consider throwing a shoe at him, but...I am too nice.
Oh, he must mean he sacrificed such things as that free market icon, Medicare Part D? Or the steel tariffs?
