Caroline Kennedy, the first daughter of Camelot, has decided to seek Hillary Rodham Clinton's U.S. Senate seat - a decision that rocks the landscape of the race to be appointed to succeed the outgoing senator.
"She has decided she wants the Senate seat," a source close to Kennedy told The Post.
She called Gov. Paterson today to let him know.
The move makes official what some Kennedy family members had been urging her to do for weeks.
Kennedy has already signed up powerhouse consulting firm Knickerbocker SKD, which advises Mayor Bloomberg - who sang her praises recently as a qualified candidate.
The firm is run by Josh Isay, Sen. Charles Schumer's former campaign manager, and several sources said the move suggests Kennedy has the mayor's tacit support for her candidacy.

The battle lines are drawn. Does Patterson send Cuomo to the senate or live with him as an opponent for the governor’s office.

If Caroline wants it then it's hers, yes? I mean, isn't that how the Dems do things? If a Kennedy wants something then isn't it already a done deal?

A Senate seat is an heirloom that the Kennedys pass from one generation to another.

Late last week, Mike Gallagher briefly touched on this.
he said that he could not think of a person less qualified for the US Senate (with maybe the exception of Al Franken here in Minnesota) than Caroline Kennedy.
You take away the famous name and she’s just another NY lawyer.

More incentive to abandon my home state.
What’s the difference between Cuomo and Kennedy?
Nothing, nothing at all.

Let's just start issuing patents of nobility and turn the Senate into a House of Lords. Don't bother amending the Constitution; it's outdated anyway. We might as well recognize the
noblesse of every Kennedy dilletante in the land who seeks office by right of birth.
For Caroline, the Marchioness of Manhattan. For Ted, the Duke of Hyannisport. For Patrick, the Earl of Rhode Island.

The Democrats rule.
We are not a Republic.
We are an aristocracy, not by vote, but by public acclamation.

I was in Borders one day looking for a book and came across this book that's whole premise was the fallout of the Civil War was the creation of an aristocracy. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the book or the author. I need to look it up, though.
