We’ve got two big furry dogs with a heated doghouse but they won’t be sleeping outside tonight.

“...and traitors” Love it! Hell, with today’s political climate, you could reuse EFAD’s title! Man are we in for a world of hurt. Sent Santa the address to my favorite gun shop.

Plus it gives a nice acronym like EFAD and DETR.

“FEAT”

It must be a temperature inversion. At 8600 ft and just west of Denver it is currently +6F. Fireplace insert blazing and toasty warm inside!

Yep it’s -15 here in Denver. Luckily we have central heat in our house, which will most likely be banned by the Obama admin. to prevent global warming.

“a good downsloping wind “

What people outside Colorado don’t know is that we can get greater than hurricane force winds on a clear day. In fact, it is a clear day that we usually do. These past two winters have had serious winds constantly blowing.

Looking like this winter could be worse then the last one. The professional forecasters think that December will be colder then last year, but January and February wont be colder. We will see. An interesting bit of trivia about that recent snowfall in Louisiana. From Weather Underground Dr. Jeff Masters' WunderBlog.

It was the earliest measurable snowfall in recorded history at Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Lake Charles. Also, this snow event set the all time record snowfall amounts for the month of December at Beaumont, Port Arthur, Lake Charles, Lafayette, and New Iberia, and was the first measurable snowfall in recorded history for the month of December at Lafayette.

That last one is interesting. The first measurable snowfall ever in the month of December for Lafayette. And it occurred early in the month.

Unusually chilly in the Eastside King County area

Ah, yet another cold day in hell as far as Gorebull Warnings. Mid 20's here along hwy 9 in Skagit County. I knew we were in for one when the breeze picked up out of the north yesterday. Woke up to deer tracks 4 inches deep under my bedroom window.

In town, Christmas decorations, lights & nativity scenes everywhere, mall was filled, so many cars on the road that most of the ice evaporated. Tis the season to be jolly indeed.

#1 son took #1 doggie, a Corgi mix, out just a minute ago. They lasted about a minute. He had to carry her back part of the way. #2 doggie went out by herself, a Rat Terrier, and lasted 30 seconds. Kitty is sleeping in the laundry room with the dryer. I’m glad your big furry dogs are in tonight. Weather like this is not fit for man nor beast.

"I am sorry did you not get the update it is CLIMATE CHANGE now"

Woops, that's right, seeing as how there are holes being blown in the 'Global Warming' scam the fanatics had to change the wording, my error.

When I lived there we used to get white caps on the toilet water!

Well, not white caps really, but the water would slosh around quite a bit. Not exactly sure why. Either differential pressure due to the wind, or perhaps some sort of effect on the sewer vent pipe that sticks out of the roof. Anyway - we knew it was windy!

At 8600 ft and just west of Denver it is currently +6F

Hot air rises, and cold air sinks. Denver, as you know, is in the bottom of a bowl. When it gets really cold in Denver, the air sinks down into the bowl, and really doesn't have a lot of energy to get out. Expect the cold temperatures to last longer than people want it to.

The temperature inversion happens with fronts that move North to South. These are usually called Alberta Clippers. For storms moving in from the NW the storm must come over the continental divide, 13,000-14,000ft around here. The wind from the front being squeezed over the divide can be over 100mph, but the NW wind coming down over the divide warms up (PV=nRT). Sometimes we warm up to 20F!
