LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The Suncoast Gun Show in North Fort Myers is attracting huge crowds this weekend.
"It's definitely one of the most crowded ones I've been in," said Robert Supon.
Ray Nadaeu says there's a reason for the crowds...President-elect Barack Obama.
"I think they're scared. I think they are scared their gun rights are going to be taken away from them and they should be," said Nadaeu.
"We have to buy these before the new regime possibly gets in," said Greg Thorn, a Civil War gun collector. He stopped by the show to pick up ammunition.
But, the President-elect said earlier this year he would not ban guns if he took office.
In a statement after the Supreme Court ruled against Washington D.C.'s gun ban he said, "As President, I will uphold the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun-owners, hunters, and sportsmen. I know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne. We can work together to enact common-sense laws, like closing the gun show loophole and improving our background check system, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals."
Since election day, gun shop owners say gun sales have gone through the roof.
James Black, manager of Tactical Weapons in Fort Myers tells WINK News in their five years in business, they've never seen sales like they have in the last month.
"People are afraid, people are afraid this new incoming president is going to ban everything," said Black.
The rush to buy a gun is impacting the cost of a gun.
"I would say a good 25 percent," explained Black, "It's all supply and demand. Right now, I don't have enough rifles in stock in order to sell them."
Anyone looking for ammunition is also taking a hit. Black says the cost is up 50 percent.
Even gun enthusiasts admit, they don't know for sure what will happen in five weeks, but they're buying what they can now, just in case.
Black said, "Once you can't get em you're going to have to use a stick to protect yourself."

www.ruger.com
you can also get mags from www.cdnninvestments.com
I have three in my garage in two different calibers. 1.25” and 2”. The two-inchers make a hell of a bang and throw a potato a few hundred feet.
I would save the potatos for food because if Obama thought people would make potato guns then he will restrict potato sales.
Its going to get down right wicked if he takes office, his first real usage of power will be creating an internet army to ferret put possible resistance groups, he pretty much has the MSM bought.
Yeah, but then I would have been complicit in their little scheme and would have given them a sale. This way the sale went to a local gun shop and I made them aware of what I thought.
Nobody I've talked to has said they'd buy from Dick's. And only because of that unnecessary invasion of privacy.
The ones too small to shoot I’ll plant.
I bought a box yesterday at the local Gander Mountain for $20. 'Course this is North Dakota.
Now that's funny!
Thanks for the info, I’ll pass that on to my cube dwellers.
Husband went to the local gun show today and ammo had doubled since the last show. Yesterday, they broke the attendance record.
The assault weapons ban will be reinacted and expanded upon. Thats why sales are up........
Out of a bike spoke? They must have been thick and hollow when you were a kid. These days they’re solid and quite thin.
Oh man, that’s funny!
Mind if I ask where you were able to purchase it from? I have a friend who is looking for some .308 Win Brass.
Cabelas
Cabela’s.
My favorite store. Too bad it’s 120 miles away.
Might improve their business if they did, even if it isn't really true.
(BTW, you ever spent time in Fort Davis, or Davis Mountain Resort?)
(Just pulling your leg - we used to own property out that way... ;>)
