It will probably get worse in the next couple of months - big snowfall last night in Bonner county and the temperature's in the single digits and headed toward zero. It takes food to make heat and they have to eat, and so they'll be coming down to where the food is.

I don't begrudge them the meal and I'm willing to kick in to reimburse my neighbors who lose stock - at least to a point. It seems a better use of my money than paying for bank executives' golden parachutes or auto union thugs' pension funds. What grates is the blithe and cheery attitude on the part of urban Greens who seem to think the wolves ought to live here and I oughtn't, and who "re"-introduced Canadian wolves on the top of a population that wasn't actually extinct at all and is now pressured by the competition. Stupid and unnecessary meddling by pious fools. IMHO.

And yes, I'm nearly always armed on my property. I'm not hunting anything, I'm just making sure nothing is hunting me, at least successfully. The relationship between humans and wolves needs to be of mutual respect, and it strikes a proper balance when they know that going too far can get them shot.

Someone claims: “It is only a matter of time before a human tragedy takes place.” I want to know when a HUMAN has been killed by a wolf.

It doesn't matter. They are property thieves.

Please list the dates and locations of human predation by wolves. Is it a real problem?

How can someone who thinks like such a ninny ever decide to register at FreeRepublic. Tell you what. I'll see about capturing a couple and you can put them in your backyard to look after your toddler child or grandchild, seeing as how they aren't any kind of a problem.

****Ranchers will be forced to accelerate the SSS procedure....****

Now is the time to break out some of that hidden stash of 1080.

You did store lots of 1080 years ago when it was legal, didn’t you?

Those large Wolves have a bite strength of about 1,500 PSI. A German Sheherd has about 750 PSI.

The farmers always say wolf, because they don't get paid for the coyote kills. But shoot away!!! And I missed the last one I shot at, about 250 yards out running in the woods, damn tree limb!!!

“I don’t feel any trust with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,” commissioner Marie Fontaine added.

“Ed Bangs said they didn’t realize they were on private land ... there are so many questions.”

Kruger said the wildlife agents appeared to be “hiding in the bushes under a high bank by a road” when he drove past and spotted them.

The tranquilized wolves were lying nearby.

“If you have nothing to hide, why are you out there hiding?” French asked.

“Did those two guys fall from the sky with a wolf under each arm?”

I had (adopted) a 7/8 hybrid wolf last year, and she killed and ate damned near everything...even neighbors’ turtles out of their water ponds.

When I was a kid in upstate NY, there were occasional wild dog packs that caused problems with calves and sheep. Farmers would just shoot 'em...all of 'em.

It takes a domesticated dog about 3 months to go feral unless they join a pack of feral dogs, then the transition is quicker. Domesticated cats a little less. Pigs only take a couple weeks to go wild. There weren't any wolves then but relatives back east tell that there are coyotes roaming around now.

the Nov. 8 death in far northern Saskatchewan of Kenton Joel Carnegie, a 22-year-old engineering student from Ontario.

Carnegie had gone for a walk that day and never returned. A search party found his body, surrounded by wolf tracks and there were wolves in the area, according to Canadian news reports.

Four wolves in the area “had been showing signs of losing their natural fear of humans,” wildlife biologist Tim Trottier told the Canadian Broadcasting Company.

They're ranchers, not farmers.

There's a difference. One animal can make a huge difference to the bottom line.

You should be shot for missing.

I will take my high rise bldgs in the neighborhood anytime

It helps to be well above street level. The rounds from the drive by shootings rarely cause a problem on the upper floors. Mira Mesa was such a treat...and that's the "nice" part of town.

Small family ranchers with small herds can not withstand large loses to their life stock.

They need that extra cow to help pay the mortgage and property taxes .

India Fighting Plague Of Man-Eating Wolves

Since the first killing five months ago, 33 children have been carried off and killed by wolves, according to police figures, and 20 others have been seriously mauled...

Matters are still far from the disaster of 1878, when British officials in this area recorded 624 human killings by wolves. But fear is pervasive. Men stay awake all night, keeping vigil with antique rifles and staves. Mothers keep children from the fields, and infants are kept inside all day.
