It's never to soon to think about 2012
me | 12-13-2008 | me

I am very worried. I live in Ohio. The anger toward the Republicans is almost palpable. I work for GM. Management guys I have worked with during GOP campaigns are switching parties. Please read the article I have linked. I can not post it because of copy write laws. It will be hard enough to get through the next four years. Let's not destroy our chances in 2012. I hope you find the article interesting.

We will lose a lot more votes if we gave in to the union demands though. Seeing through the eyes of an employee is a lot different than the eyes of people watching their tax money subsidize union jobs.

The anger toward the Republicans is almost palpable.

Almost? It's well past that point. The Republican party has swung so far to the socialist left it has abandon conservative principles to the point of no return in an effort to expand the voter base. The GOP has become simply the OP.

Supporting bailouts isn’t the way friend. If your friends at GM are upset about Republicans not supporting a bailout of the UAW, then perhaps they are a better fit in the Democrat party anyway.

We should have thought of 2012 in 2004. Too late now!

Let's not destroy our chances in 2012.

You need to create a clickable link, otherwise it will be too much work for most freepers.

And besides... are you saying that the GOP is in trouble if they don't agree to bail out the auto industry? If so, you haven't been reading many threads that the majority of freepers say they WILL NOT BUY ANYMORE AMERICAN VEHICLES if they get bailed out... the truth of the matter is this... the american auto industry business mold is broken and must be fixed... not extended...

Wow, it is only 35 days after the election and Managers that voted for McCain are SWITCHING PARTIES? You mean they ran down and got registered as Democrats because mean old GOP people won’t send 100 billion their way to keep their jobs? I would just as soon never have a Republican in office if that is the solution to this problem; sending MY money to a bankrupt company so Union guys that vote 90% for Democrats can have their $50 per hour with benefits jobs with 42 days off per year...

I live in Ohio too. While I am not a fan of employment ‘at will’, I am adamantly opposed to socialism.

In a word:

bankruptcy

There’re changing parties b/c the Reps won’t give them bailout money. Give them the money and they stay. Pay to play. The auto industry is in the dumps b/c they make crappy cars and caved into the uaw. If they want to trade votes for money, they should move to Chicago.

These people are so full of themselves it is laughable. They produce nothing of value, as judged by the lack of customers that GM, Ford and Chrysler seem to enjoy. They literally think they are God's gift to the car industry when superior car companies like Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen routinely run rings around them. The nerve of these people, the same people who fuel the same union that works 24/7 to destroy conservatism, to demand a bailout. It is sickening.

The day the UAW dies will be a great victory for conservatism. If it takes the death of GM, Ford and Chrysler to bring about the death of the UAW, then let them all die.

The democrats have majorities in both chambers. If they want to bail out the auto industry, they have the numbers to do it. If the bailout means that much, then Harry needs to get a few more to toe the party line.

While bailouts are not popular, the American people could be reluctantly persuaded to support bailouts if they keep the stock market a float and prevent job losses. In other words, scare economically insecure people.

This poster is “buy American” from the word go, but IMHO we are looking at a crossroads moment in history - this moment in time, is the moment the Detroit auto companies need to be deliberately broken - in order to be reset correctly.

Chapter 11 is the answer.

A structured, orderly reorganization and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rid the big 3 of the mess unions have foisted upon them, and on the states they reside in.

Ford might be able to avoid it - of the American manufacturers Ford seems to have at least a small clue. But both GM and Chrysler should probably begin steps to enter chapter 11. Immediately.

They’ll re-emerge much better companies.

More competitive, leaner and less encumbered by parasitic rules and expenses.

That said,

BUY AMERICAN.

Anything longer than a year is wasted time and money. I’ve had it with thhe continuous POTUS campaign. Count me out. Legislation is much more important.

Let them switch. The level of incompetance they have shown over the past few decades makes big three management natural Democrats.

Alan Mulally is the only guy with a brain among the big three, and as long as WC Ford stays out of his way, Ford could be poised for a big comeback.
