Rahm Emanuel, President-elect Barack Obama's pick to be White House chief of staff, had conversations with Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration about who would replace Obama in the U.S. Senate, the Tribune has learned.
The revelation does not suggest Obama's new gatekeeper was involved in any talk of dealmaking involving the seat. But it does help fill in the gaps surrounding a question that Obama was unable or unwilling to answer this week: Did anyone on his staff have contact with Blagojevich about his choice for the Senate seat?

well if the Governor should be fired bfore being fund guilty because the seriounes of the charges then maybe that should be extended to Obama.

If they’ve got Emanuel on tape saying anything that contradicts what Obama’s stated or makes him look bad, I predict a bus accident for Rahmbo.

Actually, Obama never said no one on his staff had talked with Blago. He only said he himself had not talked to Blago. There will have to be more here than just Rahm talking to Blago. What was said is what matters.

The main problem for Barry is the fact that by Blago being caught audibly bitching about Obama and Co. not wanting to "pay" up front can only mean that the Obama team knew there was horse dealing going on and did nothing about it.

Obama has just been so preoccupied trying to make his birth certificate available to the public, he obviously forgot that he had told Rahm to see what he could do about tying up the Senate seat.
He may have wanted to put Valerie Jarrett in that position but, if she had her eye on a Chicago style quick rise to the presidency...she’s out of luck...born in Iran.
Or, maybeeeee, Obama knows someone who could make her entire history disappear.
I think now that it is. It’s a turf war that has surfaced. The Chicago Machine was last attacked in the 60’s as you well know.
