...motorists can travel south on Santa Maria all the way towards bridge one or take Mines Road north towards the bridge there... Mines Road is nothing but trucks, wall-to-wall MEXICAN trucks.
Anyone driving a regular car on that road better be prepared to get squashed.

Mexican “Paisanos” are countrymen.
The roadrunner (cited in print from 1856) or chaparral bird is often called the paisano (cited in print from 1844 or 1853) in Texas.

Some say the paisanos will not be returning back to the United States, because of the economic problems.

There is a “Paisano Pass” on the highway between Marfa and Alpine. I imagine that name goes back a ways, too.
