Pelosi: Senate Republicans "irresponsible"
Speaker Nancy Pelosi got the job done in the House on the bailout, and now she's pointing fingers at Senate Republicans.
Here's her statement, released around midnight:
"The House-passed bipartisan legislation protects taxpayers, preserves environmental standards and places tough accountability measures on the auto companies to help ensure their long term viability and competitiveness. The House-passed bill demanded deep concessions from all parties -- the executives, shareholders and the union.
Senate Republicans refusal to support the bipartisan legislation passed by the House and negotiated in good faith with the White House, the Senate and the automakers is irresponsible, especially at a time of economic hardship. The consequences of the Senate Republicans failure to act could be devastating to our economy, detrimental to workers, and destructive to the American automobile industry unless the President immediately directs Secretary Paulson to explore other short-term financial assistance options, including TARP and those available to the Federal Reserve. That is the only viable option available at this time."
Nancy has hit a roadblock on her way to socializing the entire country. One can only hope that George Bush doesnt remove the roadblock.
Being irresponsibile in Nancy’s eyes would seem a fine compliment thank you. Hope the GOP can deliver more of the same.
Going to be an interesting day on Wall St today
Your side has the votes. If you’re so sure you’re right, go pass your bailout.
Republicans STAND UP and FIGHT this nonsense.
Harry & Nan are po’ed since they couldn’t produce the votes once AGAIN!
I wish we could take back the bailout for the financial market. They shouldn’t have been bailed out either. They made bad loan decisions and that is their problem. Why should the tax payers have to bail their butts out?
Important for her in San Francisco as she uses a V-8, big block face stretcher.
Why don’t the automakers offer up equity stakes to their primary creditors in exchange for debt relief?
Why not go ahead and file for bankruptcy, and force the union(s) leadership(s) to make equitable concessions to help get the industry back on its feet?
Why do the sheeple think that the folks largely repsonsible for our miserable failing economy [libtards] are the ones to fix it?
Seems to me there are viable alternatives to this massively stupid bailout BS.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
File Bankruptcy
Liquidate the Union
Liquidate old Stock
Open New IPO
Then let’s talk Bailout.....At the very least DUMP the Union !
Sorry.
They are just as bad as the Dems.
Dems want to pay back the UAW, Pubs want to impose wage controls. Government has no business doing either.
Let GM go chapter 11, reorganize with a viable business model and then lent the government guarantee loans to get them back on their feet.
**** you nancy.
LLS
Talk to the hand, Nancy Bimbo.
Hang onto your panties Ladies !
We’re goin’ up uP UP and away today !
Albeit it’s only One stock outta of thousand............
;-(
too ‘effin’ bad, commie pelosi.
uh, Nancy, there were some RATs opposed to the bailout also.
Republicans were wise not to allow the Dems to make the GOP own this. We all know it was for the UAW and will not save the automakers.
The democrats can damn well wait until after jan 20th, then they get to own it.
I got up early today just so I can participate from the opening.
The republicans are correct in this. How do you pay back 15 Billion three month later, after its spent, and the autos file for bankruptcy?
Wake up Nancy, WAKE UP
