Rod Blagojevich, the Stupidest Governor in the Country, Puts Obama in a Bad Light... Blagojevich as Dick Mell's son-in-law, with a Slavic name (this had long been thought of as a Polish seat), managed to get the endorsement of Mayor Daley and to engage the consulting services of David Axelrod.

It strains credulity to suppose that no one on Team Obama communicated with Blagojevich on this matter, and circumstantial evidence that someone, maybe not Obama but someone obviously entitled to speak for him, did.No foolin'!
