Hugo’s Hezbollah

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has defied the United States unlike any other leader in the Western Hemisphere since Cuba's Fidel Castro. Chavez has strong ties with state sponsors of terror, suppresses democracy at home, and has worked to destabilize his neighbors.

Recently, Chavez has also helped the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah establish a base in the Western hemisphere.

For years, the U.S. State Department has stated its concern that Hezbollah raises funds “among the sizable Muslim communities” the South America, and that weak rule of law could “tempt terrorist groups to seek to establish safe havens” in the tri-border area between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. Indeed, with the aid of Iranian embassies, the area was believed to be a staging ground for Hezbollah’s 1992 and 1994 bombings of Jewish and Israeli targets in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It was the U.S. Treasury Department, however, that provided recent evidence that Hezbollah had found a safe haven in Venezuela.

These terrorists are dying in large numbers... and people think that President Bush has been a total buffoon. Not all the time and not everywhere.

The “Triple Border” area has been a hotbed of Islamic terrorists for some time and it has long been known that Hezbollah was active and raised money in Latin America (along with other groups such as the Marxist Irish terrorists, the IRA, who provided explosives training to Islamists). The difference is that you now have some of the newly Marxist LatAm states, such as Venezuela, actively supporting them.

Is it just me, or does Hugo remind anyone else of the "Black Knight" in Monty Python & the Holy Grail? But with even less power?

I’ver never watched that show Mark.

OPINION:

In my opinion, Hugo is a useful idiot for Iran, Cuba, Russia and possibly North Korea.

This article points to yet another reason why the US must move to energy independence, an issue that McCain did not emphasize enough in the recent campaign.

Do not use CITGO gasoline and heating oil. CITGO is owned by the Chavez government!

AND

Drill, baby, drill - in ANWAR and offshore!

Yes, and no, McCain didn't. And The One won't be doing it. He'll be promoting $40m+, 100 mile, electric cars, irrespective of whether we have the non-fossil fueled plants to produce it. Which we don't.

As we have been saying for several years now.

Hugo, llke Saddam before him and like the Ayatollahs, has trashed all the rest of his economy and put everything on oil, where his incompetent decisions were masked so long as prices were high.

Further, he has brought in the Chinese oil people, whose tendency is to kill any field in order to boost short-term production with excessive water flooding.

Drive the oil price down further as we have suggested and keep it there and he will be overthrown.

Drilling is a big part of it but there is more.
