Posted at Chuck Baldwin Live, written by Chuck Baldwin. He correctly points out the hypocrisy of most Republicans.
Many conservatives are up in arms regarding the charge that President-elect Barack Obama may not have been born in the United States and is, therefore, not qualified under the U.S. Constitution to be President of the United States.
Article. II. Section. 1. of the U.S. Constitution states, No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President . . . . Some accuse Mr. Obama of not being born in the State of Hawaii as claimed, but in Kenya, Africa. Several people have filed various lawsuits challenging Mr. Obamas U.S. citizenship.
Historically, natural born Citizen has always been understood to mean someone born in the United States of America. If Barack Obama was not born in the United States, he is absolutely unqualified to be President. Hawaiis secretary of state says Obama was indeed born in that state. However, to date, Obamas actual birth certificate has not been publicly released, which only serves to add fuel to the accusations that he was not born in Hawaii.
Many conservatives seem to be obsessed with this controversy, calling it a constitutional crisis. The fact is, however, we have been in a constitutional crisis for years! The problem is, most conservatives only get worked up over a potential abridgement of constitutional government when it serves their partisan political purposes. In other words, when a Democrat appears guilty of constitutional conflict, conservatives go ballistic, but when Republicans are equally culpable of constitutional conflict, they yawn with utter indifference.
For example, the one man who has the notoriety and political clout to actually bring about some...

Sigh. Nice try, but ‘twon’t float.
Libs are soooo transparent.
Chuck Baldwin is a low grade moron. Natural born citizen means a citizen at birth, and does NOT imply or necessitate birth within the U.S.A.. According to Chuck Baldwin's idiocy, John McCain wasn't a ‘natural born citizen’ either.
Oh, BS. Someone born to an American citizen is a natural-born citizen, be in in Panama, in Kenya, or on Mars.

“Perhaps one reason that John McCain is so uninterested in where Barack Obama was born is because he, John McCain, was not born in the United States. He was born in the country of Panama. So, let me ask readers a question: Does anyone believe if John McCain had been elected President instead of Barack Obama that any notable conservative would have been distressed about a constitutional crisis? Get real!”
IS THIS TRUE????
It’s true that he was born in Panama. It’s not true that this is in any way relevant to his status as a natural-born citizen.
Oh...one of the baldwin’s said it...so it must be true.../sarc
He sure used up a lot of space trying to point out occasions of Republicans violating the Constitution.
His wheels are still spinning however.
Sorry pally. That dog won’t hunt.
They are starting to realize this is a real issue and not going away. So this is nothing more than an attempt to deflect the issue away from Obama.
Smoke and mirrors.
A strict interpretation of the Constitution would require that the Baldwin/Donofrio definition of natural born citizen be included in the documents somewhere. It isn't.
Absolutely! If it does not benefit the Communists,a/k/a Democrats, they ignore it. They only apply it to advance their cause or to hinder their enemies.
Why don’t we worry about McCain’s qualifications when he has a chance to be president?
John McCain was absolutely, thoroughly and indistputably in compliance with the constitutional citizenship requirements for the presidency.
I won’t waste the time to investigate each and every one of his other claims. I will only assume that if his lead is that flawed, the rest of his tripe must be even more so.
Most of the money spent by the Federal government (non-Defense) spent under GWB is un-Constitutional. No one seems too worked up about that.
Not according to Donofrio’s definition as outlined in his suit, which Baldwin has apparently signed on to.
There is a difference between citizen and natural-born citizen.
The puropose of putting the natural-born citizen requirement in the Constitution, was that the framers were pranoid that some with foriegn ties or allegiences (of even the smallest kind) would become president.
The original meaning was that you were born on US soil AND your parents were citizens at the time or your birth.
Use this for an example. Two illegal immigrants from Mexico have a child while in the US. The child would be a citizen, but not a natrual-born citizen (and thus not eligible to be president.)
Can you see how tht child, if they ever became president, could have divided loyalties between the US and Mexico? There’s no gurantee that he would, but the framers wanted to avoid the possiblity of that type of conflict at all costs.
IMHO, McCain is a citizen, but not a natrual-born citizen (because he was not born in the US.)
I voted for Baldwin and have been a CP supporter since 1996, but I think he blows it here badly, with an unreasonable definition of natural-born citizen. The idea that the children of U.S. citizens who are serving our military, if born overseas, should not be considered natural born citizens is fairly ludicrous and more than a bit offensive. Chuck, I’m disappointed with you.
Ignorant fools need to be banned from publishing anything.
From his bio:
Birthplace: Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone
The Canal Zone was a US possession and therefore, any persons born there are US citizens.
I’m not sure about non-US citizens giving birth while there, but I do know for a fact that US citizens had been having children there for decades and still are as there are many still working on the Canal. All it takes now since the Canal Zone was dissolved is a visit to the US Consulate to get the right paperwork.
My sister was born in the Canal Zone and she’s a US citizen. And I’ve never had any issue with my clearance updates because of this.
This whole thing about McCain’s citizenship is a NON-ISSUE.
He’s a true ZONIAN
