For months, Republicans and Hillary Clinton tried desperately to link Barack Obama to the "Chicago way" of corruption.
The GOP tried again Tuesday after feds busted Illinois' governor on charges of trying to sell Obama's Senate seat.
The only problem with making it stick is that Obama's advisers blew off Gov. Rod Blagojevich's attempts to get favors in return for giving the President-elect a say on his successor, the federal complaint says.
Obama distanced himself further Tuesday. "I had no contact with the governor or his office," he said. "I was not aware of what was happening."
His statement seemed to be at odds with a video that surfaced of his top adviser, David Axelrod, saying last month that Obama had spoken with the governor. Yesterday, Axelrod said, "I was mistaken. ... They did not then or at any time discuss the subject."
Still, Republicans pounced, claiming Obama's statement - "It is a sad day for Illinois" - was not nearly strong enough.
"Americans expect strong leadership, but President-elect Barack Obama's comments on the matter are insufficient at best," said Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan.
"Given the President-elect's history of supporting and advising Gov. Blagojevich, he has a responsibility to speak out and fully address the issue."
Ooops. So then you admit Obama's team did not report it to the FBI?
I thought that the Great and Merciful One lied . . . he DID talk to the crook.
“Sad Day” - my ass.
Maybe for the Blago family, but aside from his kids, who cares? Missus Blago was in this up to her eyeballs as well, and she’s no dainty flower.
For Illinois, where my taxes go, it’s a GREAT DAY! At last the corrupt antics of this bizarre meglomaniac are exposed to the world, and our state can start to say good riddance to bad rubbish and get some decent leadership in place.
His CRIMES may be sad, but there’s nothing else sad about it.
“Obama distanced himself further Tuesday. “I had no contact with the governor or his office,” he said. “I was not aware of what was happening.” “
Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?
So what’s new. Corruption goes on.
Obama has already lost his credibility by not producing his birth certificate. And look at the people he surrounded himself with. He is definately a product of corruption at it’s worst.
Riiiight.
His statement seemed to be at odds
LOL. Seemed? It IS at odds with Axelrod!
Yesterday, Axelrod said, "I was mistaken.
Ah! Now that's so honest and credible... NOT.
Still, Republicans pounced
Oh those wily Republicans! Axelrod's flip-flop isn't good enough for them?
Hey nobody has to “TRY” — it's a fact!
BINGO!
If you read the indictment, you will find that Blago was up to his ears dealing with Rezko and getting money. He also wanted a big job for his wife. Seems to me that Zero also got big money from Rezko(his house) and a big 300k job for Michel. Rezko and crew was shaking down hospitals..via the state medical board(nominated by Blago and confirmed by IL Senate). Michelle got her big job at..guess what?..a Hospital.
Hopefully there is more to come out of this.
Obama MET with Blago on Nov 5 to TALK ABOUT THE SENATE SEAT!
Its intellectual superior, the NY Times which is geared towards sixth-graders, has a much more nuanced spin:
Obama caught Blago by getting reform passed, and although he has thousands of connections with corrupt Chicago politicians, Obama only did it to get things done for the poor, and those evil Republicans tried to smear Obama over those connections by pretending those connections (which we just made a bunch of excuses for) actually exist.
I didn't make that up:
Obamas Intervention for Ethics Bill Indirectly Led to Case Against Governor
The Man Who’s Never There: Never in his church when Rev. Wright ranted, never had contact with his bud Blogo on the vacant Senate seat.
JNC — Just Not Credible.
If my understanding of Chicago politics is anywhere near correct, the number of scandals in this new administration is going to be mind boggling. To the point that it will become boring..
I would think to investigate who gave the money to Obama for his house.
Rezco has an ace up his sleeve if he gets popped because he owns Obama.

The Media still thinks folks don’t have a brain but then we all know they have thought that for years. The article at the link below is a nice find by a Freeper. Great to add to the Obama and Axelrod comments!

My take on this is that Blagojevich wasn’t playing ball with our Kenyan overlord, and he is paying the price, an example to other Democrats who don’t want to obey.
