Typing Without a Clue (NYT's Extremely Elitist Review of Joe The Plumber's Book)
The New York Times ^ | 12-06-08 | TIMOTHY EGAN

Posted on 12/09/2008 5:53:29 PM PST by GOP_Lady

The unlicensed pipe fitter known as Joe the Plumber is out with a book this month, just as the last seconds on his 15 minutes are slipping away. I have a question for Joe: Do you want me to fix your leaky toilet?

I didn’t think so. And I don’t want you writing books. Not when too many good novelists remain unpublished. Not when too many extraordinary histories remain unread. Not when too many riveting memoirs are kicked back at authors after 10 years of toil. Not when voices in Iran, North Korea or China struggle to get past a censor’s gate.

Egan is nothing but an elitist dirt-bag who is jealous because he can't get a book published like Joe did. I'm sure Egan knows a lot about leaking pipes but he should keep his gay sex life and his gonorrhea stories to himself.

I’d rather have Joe fix my toilet while I read his book. The NYT columnist is not qualified to do either job.

I wish Joe luck with his book. After the aggravation he’s been through, he should get a little compensation.

Ironically, if the media had left him alone or treated him fairly, he would not be in this position. Now they are jealous of the man they tried to bring down.

How ironic is it that Egan shows up as a character in Atlas Shrugged, spouting exactly the same inanities in a fifty year old novel. Come to think of it, Joe the Plumber is in the book as well. Joe, Sarah & Ann, all coming out with books!. Good reading ahead for the new year.

re: Joan Didion

WOW, you and Glenn Beck will give the socialist glitterati heart tremors (if any still survive from that era).

Joan Didion was worshipped in the ‘60s and ‘70s by a certain kind of self-important, trendy, and pompous pseudo-intellectual. You tell some of those people that you’ve never even heard of her and they may go into cardiac arrest.

For the record, coming of age in the ‘70s I picked up a couple of her books in a library but could not see what was worth all that quivering excitement among leftists. Never got past more than a few of her paragraphs but I’m sure that was my fault......

And I don’t want you writing books.

And I don't want this guy critiquing books. He stinks at it.
