Democrat Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is a crook’s crook. Even by the gutter level standards of Chicago his guy is a lowlife. But more than that, he is a moron and possibly a blackmailer.
First the lowlife/moron part: obviously Blagojevich was a crook from just about day one which is why he was selected to run for governor. The bum is in office for three years and has been under investigation for half of that span. Since it takes a while to get an investigation going, he must have been spotted right away, like a shoplifter at Wal-Mart. Besides being a crook he is also a moron. As far back as early December 2007 published reports about his wife being under investigation hit the streets.
A Law school graduate, Blagojevich eventually worked as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, a position at which he obviously learned nothing, especially nothing about wiretaps. This man is a crook and a moron of the classic crooked Chicago mold.
He had a year’s warning to shut up and stop implicating himself on telephones. But of course as a Chicago Democrat he believed he was untouchable. Had it not been for a Republican US Attorney he would have been.
Now for the possible blackmailer part: For the past two years the Chicago Tribune investigated Barack Obama over his connections to Tony Rezko. Nevertheless,, last month for the first time ever the Tribune endorsed a Democrat for president. Was this a blackmailing or a quid pro quo? Blagojevich’s wiretap caught him demanding the firing of an unfriendly editorial writer at the financially troubled Tribune while publicly threatening them with trouble getting funded.
There’s definitely more to the story of why the financially troubled Tribune would endorse a Democrat it knew was covered in Tony Rezko’s crap..

Hmm, why do I suspect that Hillary is somehow behind all the bad news about Obama’s buddies? Getting around Hillary in 2012 will be much harder than getting around Obama.
No, it's the end of the investigation. Normally an investigation allows things to play out so they can catch more rats. This one was stopped in its tracks before any more Democrats could be hurt.
He is both corrupt AND arrogant. And on top of that, he DID know he was being investigated! And yet he STILL continued on thinking he was an “untouchable”.
You should be the free market economist columnist at the NYT!

That’s my take on it, too. I think Obama was dangerously close to stepping on his own you-know-what. Chicago would have become a violent ground zero if Obama and his campaign minions were indicted as co-conspirators.
Ron Brown and Vincent Foster didn't go to jail either.

Blagojevich isn't the first and for sure not the last "Fredo" in this scenario.
That's not true. This is providing enormous cover for others to come forward now and provide their own accounts of what was going on, if they were afraid to before.
If Blag-0 went to 0bama looking for a pay-off for the Senate seat, that must mean that Blag-0 felt comfortable in soliciting 0bama to engage in corruption. Gee, I wonder where he ever got the idea 0bama would engage in criminal activity?

Just speculating, but can you imagine the first black president ending up in the clink, forced to resign over bribery for senate seats? Now I kind of think I should buy some of those Presidential coins or something. They could be a hot item, like those Patriot superbowl books.
But, I intend to smear it all over him for the foreseeable future. Same with the “place of birth”.
Create doubt...create mistrust...create fear and hate.
Same as they did to President Bush, his entire administration, our troops, and our missions in 2 war theaters.

First to squeal gets the deal. What was the hurry? Tell him he gets 5 instead of 10 if he wears the wire...Send him off to make some deals.
I personally believe they wanted to isolate Obama due to the massive blowback that would follow.
Given the 2009 implementation of increased legal restrictions on IL political sleaze, it’s more interesting that 0be resigned when he did (before the effective date).
It’s not even that. If Blago approached them - as the phone taps indicate he told others - then Obama was aware that his own Senate seat was being auctioned off - a crime was in commission - and did nothing to stop it.
THAT’S the 900lb gorilla in the room.
I gotta think the she-beast is involved in exposing this story - it would be so clintonian.
Obama is in the Chicago FBI office every morning (its the most secure place near his home he can receive a daily CIA briefing).
If you knew the governor was under investigation for corruption and he then tried to implicate you in a scam, you’d be insane not to drop a dime on the guy during one of your daily visits to the FBI.
Of course, the way things are, the feds could cut him a deal just to keep his mouth shut so as to avoid implicating Obama, avoiding the epic blowback that would surely follow.
ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY AGREE WITH YOU VERMONT VET!
The quick shut-down of this investigation will come out as well!.

Blago and/or Rezko are dead meat if they dare provide any “proof” they have against the Zero.
