Yes, as long as it's 'everybody trained to carry a gun. Would you want to be sitting next to somebody like that jerk in NY who shot himself in the leg?

That idiot was the football player Plaxico Burress. There is no law against idiots, I’m afraid....permits or not.

Agree that training is important for responsible handling and manipulation, but the 2nd doesn’t have a training clause.

Burris found out the hard way what serious folks know from training. Mexican carry works with a “peacemaker,” but a glock needs a holster, and a real belt.

Cheers

Trained? How do you get training with every idiot legislator out there demonizing gun owners, gun use, and essentially trying to ignore the Second Amendment?

We have NIMBies who move in next door to a firing range, then get them shut down because of noise or environmental lead.

We have legislators and police chiefs publishing lists of CCW holders and expanding the pool of those they feel they can "disqualify" for whatever misdemeanors are in vogue this year.

How many of us are retired LEO or former military? Do we really need MORE training? How about those of us who shoot IPSC, Cowboy Action, DCM, or IDPA? Do we need more training too?

Well cops should certainly get some training.

Over time, what would happen is Dad or Mom will teach their children how to handle a gun. They will learn respect for it and they will know how to use it.

I have been shooting since I was five. I have never done anything wrong. I have been plenty mad at people, but I have never used it in offense. I have learned to use it for defensive purposes only and offensively to put food on the table. Not saying all people will go by that, but I will bet they will think twice about doing something stupid, because they know somebody else has a gun.

Yes, people will chamber rounds and will accidentally shoot themselves or others; but they will learn and overall it may mean less people dead. Add up the victims of crimes and the bombings as mentioned in this thread, and my bet is it will be more people dead.

An armed society is a polite society.

Are you referring to this guy?....

Sorry, that’s a risk you have to take!

Sadly, cops lead the way in ADs.

It doesn’t take much....just a brief lapse of focus and BANG!

If you don’t have it in a holster, never chamber a round.

Some people are just better off carrying a revolver. Obviously, he was one of them.
