As President-elect Barack Obama prepares to take over as the country’s next commander-in-chief, he not only faces a messy democracy laden with an even messier economic crisis and high expectations for ending the war in Iraq, he also has to deal with a growing contingent of critics who question his certification as president.

According to the latest polls, nearly 70 percent of Americans are optimistic that Obama will be a good president. However, most of the other 30 percent who express doubts tend to be Obama resistors -- those who can’t get over their wounds from the Nov. 4 election.

A recent lawsuit filed by New Jersey attorney Leo Donofrio, which questions Obama’s status as a natural-born U.S. citizen — the fate of which the Supreme Court will decide Monday — is just one of several that have cropped up to waylay the first African American voted president after months of fighting seeming insurmountable odds.

The issue of his validity as president centers on the fact that while Obama was born in Hawaii, his father was a Kenyan national. Donofrio argues that because of his father’s British residency, Obama has a dual citizenship, which disqualifies him from the presidency.

However, while the governor’s office in Hawaii contends Obama’s birth certificate is valid, the location where the birth took place has yet to be confirmed.

Several other lawsuits contesting Obama’s citizenship have already been dismissed.
Some remain ongoing like one filed just a few weeks after the general election by Republican Alan Keyes who opposed Obama in his 2004 bid for the Illinois senate.

Keyes’ lawsuit filed in California also challenges the president-elect’s eligibility.

In addition, according to the World Net Daily, an attorney who’s playing an integral role in the California lawsuit which encourages officials to prevent the state's electoral votes from being recorded for Obama until questions about his citizenship are resolved, has said he's organizing plans to challenge -- even after the inauguration -- every order, proposal and piece of paperwork generated by the new president.

"We will file lawsuits on his actions, every time. As long as we have money, we will keep filing lawsuits until we get a decision as to his citizenship status," Gary Kreep, chief of the United States Justice Foundation, said in a recent WND interview.

"We're already talking to groups who are willing to be plaintiffs," Kreep reportedly said.
So far, more than 160,000 people have signed a WND online petition calling for the release of Obama’s official birth certificate and verifying his constitutional right to lead the nation.
According to a bloggers on Care2petitionsite, during the waning weeks of Obama’s campaign, several cases were brought before courts in Hawaii, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington,Wyoming, and New York challenging his qualifications to be leader of the free world. Most of the challenges also arose out of the contention that Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States.

However, bloggers have said that in those state cases, since each secretary of state is charged with verifying the eligibility of all candidates on the ballot (in some states it is the Board of' Elections), they were charged with the responsibility for supplying proof of that verification by producing certified copies of Obama’s birth certificate.

A blogger who identifies himself as “Cypresso” says he’s tired already of the Obama citizenship fiasco. “This has been rehashed and rehashed... And the evidence shows that there is no legal argument,” he said.

Karen Hatter blogged that “if the Supreme Court does decide to hear [Donofrio’s] suit, it may, within certain parameters, allow an opinion to be handed down that puts an end to this ongoing series of time consuming lawsuits that are clogging up court calendars in states across the U.S.”

While the mainstream media has kept a low profile over this issue, reports began to abound on a more widespread level this week.

To that end, the National Press Club in Washington, DC, plans an event on Dec. 8 at which an activist group will demand release of information proving Obama’s eligibility to assume control of the White House.

Your post is the essence of what we "crazies" are dealing with here on FreeRepublic!

...the fact that while Obama was born in Hawaii, his father was a Kenyan national. Donofrio argues that because of his father’s British residency, Obama has a dual citizenship, which disqualifies him from the presidency.
However, while the governor’s office in Hawaii contends Obama’s birth certificate is valid, the location where the birth took place has yet to be confirmed.
All the stories in the media are:
#1 Full of disinformation
#2 Leaving out "THE STORY"

Here is the story if there are any "reporters" out there trolling on FR tonight:

OBAMA STILL REFUSES TO RELEASE VAULT COPY OF BIRTH CERTICATE! LAWSUITS PILING UP!

(Obama doesn't want to be disturbed while he is eating his waffle.)

What is or who is a Whitefeather?

I agree with everything you say, except I am not sure about his HI birth records; I’ve read that they are by state law not open to anyone except him and a few exceptions.

Ambassador Keyes is not howling at the moon, whatever that means. He’s the same reasonable, deeply thoughtful, eloquent, patriot he’s always been. He hasn’t moved one inch.

Obama has obscured or destroyed all his historical documents that would show his actual situs/location of birth. He spent a million bucks making sure that the cases were defended , and that his Hawaii birth records were sealed under court order.

That shouldn't matter. The Constitution states he has to show proof of eligibility - as do a lot of people when applying for a job.

"What is or who is a Whitefeather?"

I think the answer may be here.

“All I want to know is if Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya, I don’t get the dual citizenship thing, if he was born here then that’s all that matters to me.”

The Constitution of the United States of America is what matters to me. I would suggest that you read more about the “dual citizenship thing” so you can “get” it.

No one has assured that Obama qualifies under Article II. It is left up the the Paries to vet their own candidates. The Dems have pulled a fast one.

And now Obama has specifically occupied the press and directed them away from the Article II question by campaigning from his office of President Elect.

This is a COUP of vast proportions against the US Constitution.

And America is still asleep.

I live in MS and got information TODAY in my e-mail from Human Events about a suit in my state. I plan to give money to them. I think everyone on FR should check to see if there are lawsuits that are ongoing in their states as well.

For the first time since this whole fiasco began, I actually believe that if BO even takes office, he will be a lame duck because he can’t put this eligibility issue to rest. Imagine how many times Hillary and Bill will use this against him?!!

Given the horribly skewed and completely unsympathetic press the issue is now getting in the MSM, this is actually fairly evenhanded. I've never heard of "Afro." Is it strictly online, or online and print? How widely read?

I could fairly easily look these things up myself, but am heading into the office in a minute or two, and so I can't right now.

"...puts an end to this ongoing series of time consuming lawsuits that are clogging up court calendars in states across the U.S.”

OBAMA is responsible for all of these the lawsuits because he is the one using the legal system to avoid having to show his original paper birth certificate.

And, still they don't get it.
