This is a story that won't go away.
Five weeks after the state of Hawaii vouched for the authenticity of President-elect Barack Obama's birth certificate, the controversy over allegations that Obama is not eligible to take office next month has reached the Supreme Court, which is expected to announce Monday whether it will consider the matter.
The fight is unusual because it thrives outside the so-called mainstream media, far beyond the oak-paneled offices of $700-an-hour lawyers and a world away from the 535 individuals whose surnames are preceded by Representative or Senator.
This is a different army at work, in an environment increasingly influenced by the Internet.
"It's only being mentioned by a relative few, by the real die-hard, anti-Obama crowd," said Michael Harrison, editor and publisher of Talkers magazine, the trade bible of the talk radio industry. "On mainstream talk radio, it's not a big deal right now. I think it's run its course."
"But," Harrison added, "we live in a time that, because of the Internet, all points of view can live forever."
Just as there is a split on the legitimacy of the legal claims, there is also a split within the media on the merits of the story. Is it the last gasp of opposition from fervent opponents of Obama who have a found community of like-minded believers on the Internet, or is there a legal question to be resolved? The court will answer the latter question thisweek.

They did no such thing. They vouched for the fact that they had a vault birth certificate. They did not say anything about what was on it. In particular, they did not say that the certificate said he was born in Hawaii. Typical, lazy MSM reporter.
By the way, pissant. Thanks for your work in keeping us abreast of this stuff.
Good Luck with that.
And would we call that place the lunatic fringe, hmm?
So far this has been laughed out of every court on the way to the SCOTUS. I doubt the supremes will even dignify it with a response as to why they rejected it. Too many issues of standing, justiciability, and the overall legal illiteracy of all those involved.
Luck? No. Vigilance? Yes

Gonna hound him till he wishes he had never run.
Get lost, troll.
Sayith a newbtard.
Two goals: Disqualification, and hard time for forgery.
Just heard the Tribune Co is going backrupt. Nice!
$12.00 would make this all go away.
He’s hiding something that would disqualify him; not just something inconvenient.
If this comes out after his inauguration all hell will break loose. SCOTUS HAS to resolve this before Jan 20, 2008. Hopefully before the electors vote.
I am sure that sometime during that romantic night had with Larry Sinclair that Barack would have mentioned where he was born.
brings a tear to my eye
Crack whores like Obama generally don’t remember details like that...
We won’t let up for one second until the commie coughs it up.
Sure, he would have been too high to stick to his Hawaii story.
Ask Larry, he knows the answer.
I doubt that the Supreme Court is going to take this up.
If Hawaii says he has a BC, that means that there is an original that has the hospital, doctor, etc. on it, so he may well have been born in Hawaii. However, there’s probably an annotation on it that he’s hiding (an adoption by Soetero, for example). That said, it doesn’t appear to be of any interest to anybody.
So I guess the citizen of Kenya or Indonesia or wherever can welcome his Kenyan thug cousin Odinga here to host the annointing ceremonies and we’re just out of luck.
Dream on dewd. You're in denial (do you get there in a Denali?). It's really just now starting to pick up a healthy head of steam, but just wait 'til it gets to really wailing down the tracks, and that is coming, whether the Supremes ignore the issue or not, and whether the Big-Ear Marxist fraud is sworn in or not.
Hell's a comin!!
