David Horowitz: Obama Derangement Syndrome- Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Cert.
HNN ^ | 12/6/08 | David Horowitz

Posted on 12/06/2008 9:43:49 PM PST by pissant

The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.

This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.

The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)

What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil? Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the Constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others. But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?

Conservatives are supposed to respect the organic nature of human societies. Ours has been riven by profound disagreements that have been deepening over many years. We are divided not only about political facts and social values, but also about what the Constitution itself means. The crusaders on this issue choose to ignore these problems and are proposing to deny the will of 64 million voters by appealing to 5 Supreme Court Justices (since no one is delusional enough to think that the 4 liberal justices are going to take the presidency away from Obama). What kind of conservatism is this?

It is not conservatism; it is sore loserism and quite radical in its intent. Respect for election results is one of the most durable bulwarks of our unity as a nation. Conservatives need to accept the fact that we lost the election, and get over it; and get on with the important business of reviving our country's economy and defending its citizens, and -- by the way -- its Constitution.

I know that one of them is Sandler, Reiff, and Young, and that the attorney is Joe Sandler, infamous as a attack dog lawyer for CAIR - the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

You’ll have to do the research to find out the others.

I guess its just too hard to work hard to educate as many people as possible

We're doing that right now on this issue. Are you learning anything???.

to make sure voter fraud is dealt with

And just how do you propose doing that when you permit the biggest electoral fraud of the century by ignoring this one right in front of us.

why do all that hard work that may bring conservatives back when you can just go off on this “unprovable to the extent americans will even accept the proof.’ tangent.

We're separating the real conservatives from the phony ones -- like David Horolosthiswitz -- right now.

We can still uphold the constitution by demanding the NEXT time this has to be dealt with earlier.

There is no next time if you accede to this fraudulent precedent.

From Dr. Keyes interview, which you posted, EV, "if he was born in HI, he is a natural born citizen".

From what I've seen on this thread, and elsewhere, he was born in Hawaii. The citizenship of neither his mother nor his father is relevant, unless his father was a diplomat, which he wasn't.

But remember, my opinion, like everyone else's on this thread, is squat.

We have not seen absolute proof that he was born in Hawaii. That’s the point.

I’m not privy to Rush’s thinking either, but I’ve observed him and I know his influences. William F. Buckley is Rush’s #1 hero. Buckley revived conservatism and made it viable in modern politics by rejecting the kook fringe. He stiff armed the Birchers and the isolationists and the racists and the anti-flouridation types, which made it impossible to write off conservatives as a bunch of cranks and paranoiacs. By steering clear of the BC issue, Rush is following Buckley’s pattern. It’s not fear or wanting to be liked or whatever. Instead it’s tactical/strategic, I think.

The Feds and their over paid agents will break into your home, and confiscate your property and throw you in jail for failing to pay their intrusive taxes among other things...

We are all required to obey the laws or else....

We are are either a nation of laws, or we are not...

If this guy was not born in the United States, he should be barred from the Presidency...

Otherwise, I want to know specifically which laws I can ignore with impunity.

I still don’t see the problem in questioning Obama’s citizenship....all he has to do is provide his BC, and this will all be over with. That he does not, seems to point to the fact that he is hiding something. We have the absolute right to know EVERYTHING about the past of POTUS, who we entrust with the nuclear button, amongst many other very important responsibilities.

It’s not worth the risk, so everyone’s going to sit back and watch while those with nothing to lose, like Alan Keyes, do the dirty work.

Embedded within this observation is quite a bit of what is wrong within the so-called leadership of the so-called conservative movement.

Risk nothing. Sacrifice nothing. Accomplish nothing.

As opposed to the attitude of the founders of this country:

"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

“According to the poster, she often heard the phone calls come in from “the right people” which eliminated the standard verification process for VIPs.”

You might be right. In Canada a diplomatic or special passport is issued to current passport holders. It’s not a replacement for a regular passport, but is in addition and only to be used on official business.

From speaking to people who have them, what’s verified is eligibility for the diplomatic or special, not the original application details, the procedure is more like replacing a lost passport - might not be the same in the US, but I suspect it is.
(special =non-diplomats representing cdn govt, usually senior civil servants)

So I assume when the application is browsed, the original application (and probably all subsequently amended fields) can be viewed, but it’s a guess, I don’t know for sure.

I just think it’s a real longshot that “birthgate” has any chance of success. Although i do believe all presidential candidates should provide proof of eligibility. They vet low level political appointees to the nth degree, but the president doesn’t provide anything? bizarre.

That was an excellent post, thank you.

I’ve been following the cases too, and have, through my posts “urged’ him to produce the authentic document rather than pay off his lawyers to contest the cases.

Do I “hope” he is found to be unqualified under the constitution? Absolutely!

Do i believe the court will announce tomorrow that it has granted cert to the case? I dont think it will, but I’d love to be wrong. Perhaps they want to hear the issue, but would prefer to do it on a different case that hasnt reached them yet.

But back when i was reviewing the court documents posted in the berg case, I said on multiple occasions that I did not think he’d get past the standing issue. His legal papers were flawed, and the defense arguments were valid on that issue from a legal point of view.

I do hope the truth comes out someday, but as long as Odumbo tries to conceal it, people will infer what they want from the facts they think they know to be true, and his term will be overshadowed by doubt about his qualifications, his veracity, and his true intentions.

"But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?"

Well, he's already mau maud his way into our house and if we call the police, he'll just say that we kidnapped him!

It's our fault for opening the door when he knocked -- anyway.

So lets just give him whatever he wants and maybe someday he'll leave.

... So lets not make waves!

Be honest neo-witz, you and bammy would have been 'tight'-- back in the day!

I'm glad I hopped off the neo-'con' open-borders bandwagon that helped open the door for this impostor... an imposter with an agenda antithetical to the traditions of the American People... who will now ascend to the Presidency by stepping on our constitution!

The American people are being raped and those that would fight are told to just 'lay back and enjoy it!'

Once American sovereignty is lost individual sovereignty will follow.

We may lose but some of us believe our country is worth fighting for!

ALL -- those of us who are American Citizens - have a duty to uphold OUR constitution...

And I am not obligated to wait for the government to 'guide' me.

If Obama doesn't come forth with a verifiable original or copy of his vault birth certificate -- as would be expected of a minimum-wage security guard, as a prerequisite to his employment -- I will NOT consider him as President of the United States.

If ALL three branches of government allow this to pass I can only conclude that the Government has become corrupt -- perhaps in the hands of a foreign or seditious power.

In that case -- Constitution in hand -- I will look to the framers of OUR constitution for guidance.

"If there is anything which it is the duty of the whole people to never entrust to any hands but their own -- that thing is the preservation of their own liberties and institutions." - Abraham Lincoln

"The people of the United States are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution." - Abraham Lincoln

"Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God." - Thomas Jefferson

Here's an interesting read about President Chester Arthur's "eligibility" and the efforts he made to conceal his father's citizenship. Proof: Chester Arthur Concealed He Was a British Subject At Birth

The Donofrio case does not contend "if he was born in HI, he is a natural born citizen".

Even beyond the "British" citizenship status having an effect on his eligibility, I still wonder about his HI birth.

I think after he’s inaugerated,it’ll be too late and nothing can be done about it,so he’ll flaunt it,”Yeah,I was born in Kenya,so what!”This will pave the way for any body on the planet could run for president, including Hugo Chavez, who seems to be worshiped by Hollyweird and the MSM.Chris Matthews would go into orgasmic overload then.

I am quite familiar with the Chester Arthur case. Thank you.

I did not refer to the Donofrio case. Alan Keyes in HIS interview, made that quote.
