David Horowitz: Obama Derangement Syndrome- Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Cert.
HNN ^ | 12/6/08 | David Horowitz

Posted on 12/06/2008 9:43:49 PM PST by pissant

The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.

This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.

The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)

What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil? Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the Constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others. But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?

Conservatives are supposed to respect the organic nature of human societies. Ours has been riven by profound disagreements that have been deepening over many years. We are divided not only about political facts and social values, but also about what the Constitution itself means. The crusaders on this issue choose to ignore these problems and are proposing to deny the will of 64 million voters by appealing to 5 Supreme Court Justices (since no one is delusional enough to think that the 4 liberal justices are going to take the presidency away from Obama). What kind of conservatism is this?

It is not conservatism; it is sore loserism and quite radical in its intent. Respect for election results is one of the most durable bulwarks of our unity as a nation. Conservatives need to accept the fact that we lost the election, and get over it; and get on with the important business of reviving our country's economy and defending its citizens, and -- by the way -- its Constitution.

McCain showed his birth certificate to reporters. He also showed them his medical records to them. 0bama to my knowledge has done neither.

Obama had a "note from his doctor" released right before the election, the 2nd or the 3rd, IIRC. But it was not "his records" just a statement of his overall health.

Let’s just stay with Rush on this. Do you think he cares about being called “nice” or “reasonable”.

Okay, since you want to frame your argument to make your point......why don't you just make your point vs. trying to "lead" me to your conclusion. What do YOU think the reason(s) is (are)?

I can understand their point and even sympathize with it, because if Obama is in fact disqualified due to a Kenyan birth there will be a body count, and possibly much worse.

And how much worse than that if the truth, if that's what it is, *after* he is inaugurated? You have to know that an overwhelmingly 'Rat Congress is not going to remove him, so it would again be up to the Courts. But who would enforce their orders?

I was responding to Girlene who speculated that the reason Rush, and others, were silent on this issue was because they wanted to be “nice” and “reasoned”.

I suspect he (and the others) hasn’t joined the chorus because he doesn’t see the song you all are singing.

And different from the speculation, rumors and “analysis” of those here, whose opinions, like mine, aren’t worth squat, those who get paid to speak and write are mostly silent on the issue.

Oh give it up. The Constitution hasn't mattered all that much for over a hundred years.

You pretty much speak for the entire existing political establishment.

First, why not just dump the COTUS all together then and revert to a common law system? Secondly, this shows David has a total lack of intellect (and a deep desire to be liked by liberals in DC and the media). Thirdly, it would not be the SCOTUS that invalidates any votes. If BHO is not a natural born citizen, then BHO defrauded the voters..not the Constitution and not the SCOTUS. Lastly, if it BHO is no a NBC, then the COSTUS demands that he cannot be POTUS. By this extremists fascist (David..lawless) way of thinking, slavery could be brought back if a majority of Americans voted for it! For that matter, shouldn't Jews just have accepted The Final Solution since resisting it would have meant upsetting millions of Nazis? For those that will cry that there is no moral equivelency here, I say to them that throwing the COTUS out the window opens the door to fascism..or as we call it democrat progressivism. I saw this last night, along with the comments on Horowitz’s own site. His own readers disagreed with him.

McCain was born on a US military base, which is technicslly US soil, just like an Embassy is US soil.

No he wasn't. He was born in the hospital in Colon, outside the Zone, and aslo off the Naval base.

That's what the birth certificate showed anyway. Unlike, The One, he released both an extract and a copy of the original filed by the hospital, equivalents to the Certification of Live Birth and Certificate of Live Birth in Hawaii

I agree with you. However, in all likelihood, the Court will claim that it’s too late now to question his eligibilty for the office. The people have spoken and elected Obama as their President.

If the Federal Court in PA. would have heard Berg’s case in August when he filed it Obama MAY NOT have been elected. It was the courts own rules of ‘standing’ that has caused this to drag on now for 3 1/2 months.

The ‘standing’ rule needs to be tossed out when constitutional questions arise concerning an election for President. Time is of the essence in these cases, and the Court blindly follows archaic rules to the detriment of all of us. Including those who cast their vote for Obama.

I have stated before, and I think, but obviously do not “know”, the reason is there are too many people here trying to weave whole cloth out of thin cloth.

IOW, there is little of substance, outside of speculation and rumor.

I have heard this argument several times on this thread. Without challenging your veracity, do you have substantive links that indicate how much Obama has spent?

Stunning ignorance, Mr. Horowitz.

And if you think he's bad, you didn't hear John Gibson (Fox radio) on Thursday and Friday. He was even more ignorant of the facts and the law. And he was degrading to both himself and the folks who just want the Constitution enforced.

“those who get paid to speak and write are mostly silent on the issue”

So they either see it as something like a “silly conspiracy theory” (in which case they disagree with the Supreme Court who allowed it on the docket), or they have some mysterious and exceptional reason for their silence.

In most cases where Rush’s opinion differs from my own on any given subject—which doesn’t happen very often—I consider him wrong.

Thanks for the response...so our rabid right bloggers are consumed with FEAR from embarassment, Obamaism or the incoming fascism? If so we are in deeper trouble than I thought.

Yes we lost, and even if Obama were DQ'd and does not become President, it doesn't mean "we won". There will still be Democrat in the White House under all but the most extreme scenarios. (No unfaithful electors and House is forced, by that inconvenient Constitution, to pick McCain. But I believe there will be at least one "unfaithful" Dem elector, "just in case").

But the Constitution will have been obeyed, and that's a victory for all Americans.

Personally, I don’t know the exact amount that Obama has spent in the effort to block the release of his real birth certificate.

But, I do know that he has employed at least three major law firms in the effort.

Whatever the amount is, it is substantial.

David Horowitz in Radical Son shows he led a long, long life being duped.

And not just duped by some two-timing bimbo but by the Golden Book of Communism.

In Horowitz' nonsense about Hussein, the former shows disdain for the constitution, preference for mass over truth, willingness to accept felony forgery, loyalty to one who is the radical son of the communist mother, communist grandfather, Uncle Frank the communist, Saint Saul the communist shadow man, Bill Ayers the face of today's communist.

Horowitz grew up hating the constitution, never cared to accept it.

He must not see the parallel that the majority of Germans had no problem with putting Jews on boxcars.

Hussein promoted Raila who burned Christians alive--Horowitz is not a Christian and has no problem with that.

This is an issue which demonstrates priorities.

For the persistent obedient Hussein propagandist all that matters is that Hussein is in power. No further discussion will be allowed.
